Well obviously the answer to my previous post here is yes. But it took a few years...

is there any up-to-date plugin that has similar functionality to this one?

RE: How to get near and far clipping plane of view?
The actual clipping of your models is not an end-user feature either... But does the new existence of this checkbox mean that a plugin could be written that uses this plugin? Or are the values in this camera settings window not approachable through ruby?

RE: How to get near and far clipping plane of view?
So I've accidentally stumbled upon this awesome thing.
I typed the above mentioned command into the ruby console of SU2017.
And guess what? There's a new checkbox. It allows you to adjust your near and far clipping planes.
After years and years of toiling and sighing, they allow you to solve this issue for your models and they don't even mention it in the release notes...

RE: Model size reduction/Model analyzer
Thanks Box, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Model size reduction/Model analyzer
I am looking to reduce the file size of a model I have been given, from roughly 100MB to roughly 50MB.
However, I want to loose as little info in the model as possible. Is there such a plugin as a model analyzer? A plugin that would tell me for example, which components are the heaviest on polygons and MB's, which textures are the heaviest, and more such info.

RE: Vray load error
You may have installed the 32 bit version where you needed to install the 64 bit version or vice versa.

RE: Fishing net modeling
Guys if you're making those tubes merely to create accurate shadows on the ground... you know you can switch on 'from edges' in the shadow window, right?

RE: [Plugin] SketchUcation Tools 2.6
I was wondering about the update system; it's not working as I would expect.
I have some plugins by Fredo installed; these come with its own update checker. However, I don't really like the way it pops up every so many days. It's a bit intrusive - especially if I have to teach. Pupils are easily spooked by an extra toolbar or window.
All that aside, however, I still leave it on, since it regularly shows updates that do not show in the SketchUcation Plugin store. I can see that my installed Fredo-plugins have different version numbers from the ones in the list, but still there is no update button, and it doesn't show up in the updates list.
So eventually I clicked on through until a button 'install extension' became visible. This is a bit counter-intuitive though. -
RE: Base Camp 2014.
Yay I'll be coming too!
And I'm bringing my boss (oh wait he's paying so technically he's bringing me )
And I'm bringing my hubbie, who's going to ski while I attend conference items... but that's ok, I won't be skiing anyway since I'll be bringing my unborn wee one way too dangerous -
Plugin store download: 403 forbidden
Hey guys.
I'm trying to update my plugin store plugin, but if I click update in sketchup, it says 'error: invalid component url' and if I go to the website, 'plugin store download' and I click 'download', I get a 'forbidden' message:"403 Forbidden

RE: [Plugin] Teapot
Hey Thomthom
something odd happened today when I was installing your teapot plugin.
Although I'm not sure it's due to the plugin itself, probably more like it's the EW's fault, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, I already had cleanup, v-ray toys and selection toys installed (all through the EW), as well at TT_libยฒ.
But when I installed the teapot, nothing happened.
Well, not exactly nothing. I got the toolbar, and the webdialog asking me how many segments etc., but no pot.
So I restarted SU, nothing changed.
Then I checked your teapot EW page, and noticed "TT_libยฒ needs to be installed", and I'm thinking "didn't I already have that?" but the EW window said I didn't. So I clicked install.
But again, nothing changed.
So I restarted SU and all of a sudden: lots of error messages! Most of them telling me TT_Libยฒ was not there. (checked plugins folder; its there. checked SC pluginstore extension list; it's there. Cleanup'd a model: worked.) But the thing that was really gone, was the teapot plugin. All of it.
So I de-installed both TT_lib and Teapot (EW still thought it was there) and re-installed both of them, and now everything works again. But still. Thought I'd let you know about this. Really strange behaviour!

RE: Working on 2 screens and sometimes only 1 doesn't work...
Just had a customer calling me with a dual-screen-related issue as well.
Although the reason why the error occurred is unclear, the solution makes me think that his dual screen setup is the reason.
The error was this: his component browser wouldn't show up. It was checked in the Window-menu, but not visible in the screen.
Simply disconnecting the second screen was not recognized by any part of any programme (not even by Windows). But when I changed his display settings to 'duplicate' instead of 'extend', and then minimized and maximized his SU window, the dialog magically popped up in the middle of the screen. It kept functioning properly thereafter. -

Thomas you're a champ.
As always.I really like the update to the V-ray tools
Especially the load-on-demand saves me a headache every time I start SketchUp! -

Hi Gaieus you mention the erasing of the rectangle when your image shows the erasing of the triangle.

RE: Help! how do I render a floor like this?
Thanks for the tips guys.
I couldn't (and can't) post an image of the final result, since there's some secretkeeping of the design involved for now. Perhaps in a few months.
Anyway, the biggest problem in this story was mainly the guy who commissioned it didn't quite know what he wanted and inadvertently took it out on me, telling me every time I had rendered something, that it looked wrong.
Finally we settled for using a really plain, modelled plank, just plain colour and a simple groove. Thanks for the link Valerostudio, to that arroway thingy. I'm sure it will be useful in a later project I knew the site of course, but I just found out this time around that they have downloadable samples. Quite a handy thing, especially with the people I work with... always changing their minds...
As to the creating of bump maps etcetera; I'm quite adept at that already, but it's a nice video to watch nonetheless. Always a pleasure to see someone working at something they're good at.

Texture projection [advanced question]
Hi
Does anybody know a way to change a projected texture into a projecting texture?
I come across this issue a lot... for example, I project a texture on to a face, later I change my mind and paint a different texture on to it. Somehow though, this face remembers its projected UV coordinates. meaning that if I try to make this new texture a projecting texture to project onto a different face, it distorts unrecognizably, and positioning is locked...
