Your going to have to do a bit of guesswork in merging the 2 faces together anyway, so i dont think adding a row or so of extra geometry would make much of a difference in the majority of cases. You could always do a bit of plating around with the terrain afterwards.

I think the realization of this plugin would need combined forces of all our ruby scripters. it is very difficult to achieve, uniting mesh deformation skills (bevel) and automatic texturing...

plot-paris, thanks for sharing your thougths.... they go in the same directions as my wishes do, though I would not have been able to demonstrate my ideas in such a clear way... implementing the hierarchy suggestions would make much sense and be a great help to manage complex structures in very logical and easy-to-handle way. Dear Plot-Paris Is the attached what you need? I constructed the solid in the following way: Draw the inner arc with the required segment length. Offset the inner arc the required distance to give the outer arc. Use the extrude line tool to extrude the inner arc the required height. Explode the surface and extrude each face towards the outer arc, snapping to the line segments (mid-points) on the outer arc. Delete un-needed surfaces. Use the line tool fill in the shape. Delete all coplanar lines. Use the smooth tool to hide lines. Regards, Bob Matching up segments.skp

bobu, Vue standard (released version) only has the replicate function that can scatter objects of the same size, however the instancing brushes vary the sizes. There are a few Python scripts for instancing identical sizes with variations on twist, rotation etc. I have had no need for such a python as I need the randomized sizes for my ecosytem brushes however if I come across those scripts I wil send you the link (or if Chipp Walters sees this he may have such a script in his arsenal) Scatter method: [image: instanceph4.jpg]

There's always Piranesi, which trumps in most ways the various Styles possible in SketchUp and will work on faces. However, it's rather pricey and I frankly don't like its interface very much.

I've had this happen sometimes, I think it's something to do with pasting groups or comps from another file with a different axis. But if you explode the group or comp then regroup it fixes itself. baz. here an example: [image: YMT9_Clipboard01.png]

Also, as a quick workaround, you can take a GE snapshot (you can toggle it off any time) and that will set your location in SU. Even "more also", Jim has created a plugin that will allow you to set the location on the free version of SU. Also he has a Sun tool and a Map Sun plugin for shadow studies. Finally, have you tried the new version of GE for shadow studies? Have a look at this thread (and the link in the first post). It seems to be really cool! And well, as it turned out that it's not a "bug", I'm moving the topic to the main forum now if you don't mind.
