@rv1974 I think this is about Chaos Arena, which is still an impressive product, but not geared towards SketchUp users. It doesn't advertise a price, so it's expensive.

RE: Rayscaper New Releases
@Krass I'm looking into this, and the other bugs you reported. Will provide an update soon.
To confirm, is this the only scene where you see the black smears (taches)? Or are there other scenes where you are seeing the same thing?
Cheers,

RE: Rayscaper Hotrod (Ford Model A)
SHadow catcher for the HDRI which is just a plane not up either but shadows not apparent without. Future releases perhaps or a workaround.
I'm not following this @Mike-Amos

RE: Rayscaper Hotrod (Ford Model A)
Nice, an excellent start! I would put some lights on that beauty.
I added the alpha issue to my bugs list—it's not forgotten! You can try cleaning that alpha channel with a tool like Affinity Photo as a workaround.
Note that you can update exposure in Rayscaper if you'd like:

Hello, Pixelcruncher,
I updated the rbz from sketchucation, but I don't have this option to choose the thumbnail size.(very good improvement)
But I didn't uninstall rayscaper before reinstalling,Hey @Krass ,
Can you check the version you are running?

If it's 0.9.44 or higher, you should be able to configure the thumbnails via the settings dialog:

After updating the plugin in SketchUp, a restart of SketchUp is required. Otherwise, you will continue to run the older version of Rayscaper.

RE: Rayscaper in SU 2025
@ntxdave PBR materials aren't supported yet in Rayscaper, but they will be soon...

RE: Post diagnosis.
Hey Mike,
I have already ticked 'use gpu rendering' a while ago when the system was changed.
I just wanted to check if the model renders correctly with the CPU and try to isolate the problem to GPU rendering.
It does render for me using GPU rendering; the model is surprisingly polygon-heavy. I do see the same problem with the flames texture and the alpha channel:

I guess you are using the same flames texture in Twilight Render. I'm surprised it gives such a nice result because this flame texture doesn't have a clean alpha channel. There's a pattern in the alpha channel:

Does Twilight Render have a way to display thumbnails for textures? I'm intrigued at how it can render this so cleanly.

Rayscaper.

Something wonky, the 0/0 samples/px doesn't look good. It seems like it never started rendering. What happens if you switch to CPU rendering as a test?
- Menu > File > Settings...
- Tick off the "Use GPU Rendering"

RE: Ford Model 'A' Hotrod.
Very cool! But it looks like something fell off from the bottom.

RE: something just for fun
Very cool, feels disorienting opening the browser for the first time having the image popup.

@pixelcruncher Hello, I have downloaded sketchup 2025 and rayscaper doesn't work, it just says idle and doesn't render, (and do you have plans to incorporate sketchup's pbr materials into rayscaper's materials?) thanks
SketchUp 2025 is now supported in version 0.9.44 Beta. Let me know if there are any issues.
I plan to map SketchUp's PBR material to Rayscaper's PBR material in one of the upcoming releases.

RE: Rayscaper New Releases
Hey, Rayscaper users!
Another release!
Rayscaper 0.9.44 Beta is available in the SketchUcation store. More fixes and improvements. As always, I recommend upgrading to the latest version.
What Changed?
- Added support for SketchUp 2025.
- Fixed energy loss in glass materials, which previously caused them to appear too dark.
- Made asset thumbnail size configurable via the settings dialog.
- Fixed reloading of SketchUp materials in Rayscaper.
- Fixed light emission issues with HDRI environments.
- Removed the 1000×1000 pixel resolution limit for the free version.
The asset thumbnail size is configured via the settings dialog:

RE: Rayscaper New Releases
@Krass, those are nice renders!
By external denoiser, do you mean the one in Rayscaper or something else?

Pixel filtering can also help to get rid of some of the jagged lines:

RE: Rayscaper New Releases
@Krass I appreciate your interest in Rayscaper! Thanks.
I'm very impressed: I'm familiar with v-ray, D5 render and Twinmotion, but your tool is great for beginners, but of course for pros at a very, very decent price.
Glad to hear, I hope to build something that is very easy to use at a great price.
I'm in charge of a discord room on 3D rendering and plan to make tutorials for all those people who aren't into 3D rendering yet.
Nice! Let me know how I can support you.

Not a bad start. I'm not sure if I like him. Easy to get used to, simple user interface. Several times Sketchup crashed trying to save the result. I need to think!
@alvis The crashes you saw should be fixed with the latest release... https://community.sketchucation.com/post/1612960

RE: Rayscaper New Releases
Hey, Rayscaper users!
Another release!
Rayscaper 0.9.43 Beta is available in the SketchUcation store. More fixes and improvements. As always, I recommend upgrading to the latest version.
What Changed?
Improvements
- Rayscaper now takes Windows monitor scaling into account. On scaled monitors, Rayscaper should display correctly
without requiring manual user scaling. However, manual scaling is still an option if needed. - Use the same light sampling algorithm for CPU and GPU. This would sometimes cause render differences between CPU and
GPU in complex lighting situations. - Generate better tangent vectors for normal mapping. This should improve the quality of normal mapping.
- Rename the Disney material to PBR material.
- Drop the thin sheet approximation for the Disney (PBR) material, it's not working correctly currently.
- Drop the transmission color from the glass material.
- In the PBR material, rename clearcoat gloss to clearcoat roughness for consistency with other materials.
- Drop the environment light fake GI mode, it looks too weird to be useful.
- Drop some render methods that are not that useful except for debugging ("Shading dP/dU", "Shading dP/dV", "Shading
Incidence", "Shading Normals / No Bump").
Bug Fixes
- Fix a crash when double-clicking the save button in the GUI.
- Fixed the saving of the DPI scale application setting.
To avoid confusion, switching between CPU and GPU rendering doesn't happen anymore in the render tab but via the settings dialog (Menu > File > Settings).

RE: Post diagnosis.
For reasons unknown to me, the render then restarts. To reiterate, I have PAUSED the render prior to minimising the render window.
I will have a look a this then @Mike-Amos - But paused mean paused, it should not restart and unpause itself.
