Can you get a print-to-pdf program in Windows? I also tried this with screenshots and it worked OK.Looked pretty good but you probably have to scale up before you insert (to make it look OK) and so you lose the automatically scaling during an update. You have to make the screenshot with LO set to "actual size" zoom, but registration during updates is not automatic.

An easy workaround: Create a bold rectangular 'C' shaped object with the line tool. Fill this object with hatch and double-click the object to enable path editing to close the 'C'. Disable the object's stroke. Redraw all outlines to the object with a 'stroke' enabled and 'fill' disabled.

Or use the native Outliner dialog to move directly into or out-of specific Groups edits [or Components] So if nesting is deeper than one level you can jump in/out clicking on the Outliner entry. This also requires you to give your Groups / Components sensible names so you can find what you want to edit by-name rather than visually... [Unless you have a good memory !]
