Layout, hatch/ pattern fill
-
Is there a way to have a void inside of a hatch pattern?
For example to hatch a floor, but not the 24"x24" columns in the middle -
you know it's hard to say, depending on how you are making your drawing. Just in terms of simple drawing, one can place a filled rectangle in the column area etc.
-
A workaround for this would be to hide the floor element in the SU view and then place the hatch on a layer below the Sketchup model layer in Layout. Hope this is what you meant - I tried it with both a sectioned and a non-sectioned view. Layout file in version 2015 attached.

An easy workaround:
- Create a bold rectangular 'C' shaped object with the line tool.
- Fill this object with hatch and double-click the object to enable path editing to close the 'C'.
- Disable the object's stroke.
- Redraw all outlines to the object with a 'stroke' enabled and 'fill' disabled.
