So, urm. Want to save from the free version (on my tablet) to then work on it on my desktop.... And all the "save" does is ask for a login. Oh. It's trimble connect. Erm ok. Where's my file....?

Well. Other than a version I can run on my phone or tablet.... Pretty much can stay on the previous version. Here's to feature stagnation...

Just ran the free on Chrome on my galaxy s8... Teeny glitches, but runs!

this is the way I like to work... tho the problem I have is, loading the part back to exactly where it should go, rather than moving it and placing it down.. (am I missing a key press or similar? I just want to have it exactly where it was...)

on large models this method of modeling is a lifesaver...

Ive been waiting for this to happen for a long time.

if you make a model of a car - ford, BMW, any - as a model kit or a "hot wheels" you have to buy a licence to do so from the firms involved. same as if you do a kit of say the USS Enterprise.

all well and good, and frankly I've no problem with that.

but in the 3D world... I've seen hundreds of cars, movie props, designer clothes, etc.. all knocked out and sold by modelers wwho don't pay for the licence for them.

no gentlemen, it's not right for them to do so and it is right for the company's involved to protect themselves.

we expect the same protections on our work, Copyrights, tradedress, etc.

ok now that we can map quads (thanks guys, really that was a big thing for me!) I'm in.. how much and when?

one question. will the mapping copy across components?

All meshes tri'd? That's a deal breaker for me. While I'll keep an eye on this, I'll stick to the methods I'm using already to uv map.

2 questions.

1- can the resulting uvs be exported with the mesh to obj, either via the app or via sketchup (or indeed via collada) for use in other applications

And

2- what's the name of the music and where can I get a copy?

basically it's saving items out to work in greater detail then bring them back in to the same position to save resources / work quicker.. knowing me I've probably got the wrong idea of using components (but I need to learn how to use them anyway...) but it seemed this would be how you'd work it?

eg the rocket I was working on before my wrist fell apart, I want to save out the wing, work on it in greater detail in a scene on it's own, then load it back into the master scene. but with it loading exactly where it was in both scenes.

how do I make one that loads in to the same position it was saved at? (instead of having to be placed)

white listed the site, so no problems there now...
the message was just a script (thanks guys, nice and vague) was blocked. then the site was blocked from opening.
and just found there's no log file to refer to. yay!
digging to see if I can recreate avast's tantrum...

just went to login into the pluginstore.. and Avast has blocked it. citing a script? looks like a false positive... actually I'm sure it is

gonna disable Avast while I'm in there, but I thought the peeps that run the sitemaaay wanna know...

seeing the mouse thread made me think. what is everyone using? can we share and swap ideas/tips? I've been looking into applying game controls into my workflow. ok they're for games you may say.. but when they are fully programmable input devices.. then...

so to start -

MX Performance Mouse - custom config on the buttons, mainly Windows buttons such as F5 etc

MS Ergo 4000 Keyboard - custom setup on the extra keys, for calling up various software

Nostromo N52te Keypad - various configs for Sketchup, Photoshop, Poser, UVMapper, etc. there's a modern version made by Razer I'll be upgrading to.

Looking into adding in Voice control with "voice attack" http://www.voiceattack.com/ and using a tablet with "powergrid" http://www.roccat.org/en-US/Products/Gaming-Software/Power-Grid/Home/ to expand controls.

did try a Wacom Graphire / Bamboo.. ended up giving them away, just couldn't get my head around the hand to screen co-ordination.. kept wanting to look at my hand... and had a Spacemouse, but had issues with it lifting up when I moved it, then later it drifting constantly. tho I do want to check out the larger units in the series.

for my vote, it's the Logitech Performance MX
comfy and configurable. I won't use anything else.. (had the MX revolution until it's battery pack died.. when my Perfomance dies, I'll goto the MX Master....)
