ok... new luxrender.. but where's the SU part? the SUexporter still needs a ton of work to be viable.. unless you missed out a link?

We archive no threads here, it is just that the topic probably goes back to a time when there was a certain excitement around Daz and SU.

Daz models tend to be a bit of a choke for SU though.

      http://www.renderosity.com/

here is where you probably get more responses to Daz/SU workflow. but a search for sketchup returns only 3 results. 2 of which are vray.

new threads are better for learning i find.

especially ones with good title descriptions...

do NOT go to Renderosity. trust me. the trolls are out of control there. the guys that know their stuff are packing their bags and leaving.

It seems Windows 10 will be free for the first year.
I believe they will sell it as a subscription so we'll have to pay each year to use it/get fixes.
      I don't like subscriptions. 😞

nope don't worry. free for the first year, then its back to the standard model, (as now, pay to install), no subs needed.

    • RE: Need help using Shape Bender

I have to say.. I've never gotten it to work reliably either. and yes, I've watched the video. tho I think thats the problem. it's a video.... trying to follow step by step instructions in realtime is a bit of a sod at times. (ok do this that..hey wait what was that, rewind, no to far, no, missed it.. argh - a typical scenario for me.. )

maybe someone can do a series of step by step written instructions for those of us that can't follow videos that well? eg in the video for this it wasn't clear that they have to be on the same axis.. until chris said it here....

ok.... I better fill this in
I've got CSE Maths English History Chemistry and Physics. right now, it's more what math do I need than what uni... think more from the start. right now, using SU or trueSpace I can design you a building by eye... but without the math (or any further qualifications), can you build it?

    • Asking for some help

removed grumpiness thanks to Dave for putting this in the right place

I need pointers to a UK architects course. I want to study/train to be one, but I need to find out what math is required and what text books...

so my GF can actually teach me the math in the first place (she's Uni graduate math, I'm UK highschool 1 group above special needs math, but she thinks it's the teachers not me after talking to me and seeing what I can do)

      any pointers?

you need to tone down the adblock detection guys.

right now, it's triggering if it even detects adblock is installed and enabled.. even when the site is whitelisted! and sorry. I am NOT uninstalling it just to come here...

Khai, I also have AdBlock installed and when I disable it on SCF, it works fine. The "solution" here is not "sensing" if AdBlock is installed or not but if ads are displayed or not.

then I invite you here to show me how to fix it.
I have "disabled" it on this site. I cannot "see" pictures or attachments. I get a message that I am running an adblocker.

so. if I disable it fully and restart firefox? I see the pictures and attachments.
      I reenable it, I don't see them

so. what does that say? hmm? the site is whitelisted and allowed in Adblock. until last the last few days, I was having no issues.

now I am. and yes I AM seeing ads. I'm NOT seeing attachments.

I make an exception for you guys alone. I've actually had to install a secondary browser to use here with no adblocks installed to test but thats not staying for long.. I dunno what you changed but...

(I have an aversion to flashing things constantly extorting me to buy crap, rogue adverts trying to install malware (right now there's a lovely ad that pops up on Notalwaysright that keeps trying to install something on my Nexus 7 tablet if I use that to read the articles...) etc. )

it's like voodoo for SU once you get it setup how you like it.. right now I have a Belkin N52te but in the new year, I'm upgrading to the Razor version...

oh and a trivia note - the 11th Doctor had one as part of his TARDIS console!

    • RE: How to import a model dazstudio (obj) in Sketchup?

      actually not quite

you can export from DS to SU with no issues on the mapping if the UVmaps are not stacked (overlappying)

if the export has single layer maps, it should work ok. that counts out the current generation of Daz figures tho...

    • RE: How to import a model dazstudio (obj) in Sketchup?

I can tell you the problem I think

Poser/Daz studio OBJ's tend to use stacked UV maps to maximize space on the map. also it's not uncommon for a texture map to be 4096x4096 in size for the skin etc, tho many will goto 8192 these days πŸ˜’

If I'm right, the body has a huge Head UV stacked on top of it....

I've seen figures have a lot of issues due to the UVs thanks to this method...

Hexagon. prone to crashes (unfortunately) and basically abandoned by Daz.
Bryce, Solid and slow, and basically abandoned by Daz.

with the new management at Daz... I'd not hold out much hope of these being developed again by them.. or Carrara or even Daz Studio...

    • RE: Poser to sketchup?

frankly, you won't do it. I use Poser and Sketchup together as well, and basically, SU cannot handle the Poly counts of the simplest poser figure in any useful fashion. (Eg Posette, the basic Poser 4 human female, she's 40,000 polys, that's without clothes... a Victoria 3 or 4 is 60-90K)

you need to reverse your thinking and go the other way. SU to Poser. it's easy enough with the OBJ export scripts or if you have poserpro, Collada.
