Hi All, maybe not exactly what is asked here but because colour accuracy is the topic here and this question is professionally very important for me as well.
As a rule, and only where colour accuracy is priority #1 which happens quite often with me: In these cases I never export a pixel image out of SkUp but always a PDF (with or without lines). I import this PDF into Adobe Illustrator (or any similar tool), automatically select the relevant fill colours and then, within Adobe Illustrator, convert them to the exactly calibrated colours of our own specific Adobe colour profile. If necessary, I also combine this (still rather dull) PDFs within Adobe Illustrator with an ambient occlusion or shadow rendering of my model which I overlay multiplying there.
I hope this method helps...

RE: Puffy sail
...how about to start with something like "thanks for the suggestions here but I forgot to mention that I want to 3d-print it..."?
I have no experience with 3d printing so far but I think Fredo6ยดs Joint Push Pull tool works well for adding thickness

hey - this tentacle-like "suction cup(?)"-thing is extraordinarily promising and superbly textured already now! - I'm curious to see what follows here

RE: Convert Nested Components into Groups
Rich!
Thanks Pnixia, that was exactly my dilemma - it was such a large number of different window components which constantly interfered with each other through their interaction of similar sub-components and I wanted to avoid clicking through all of them at all costs.
If the model had been smaller, I would have chosen your approach... -

Convert Nested Components into Groups
hi all - I have a question
is there any tool which can convert all or selected nested subcomponents, included in a component down into groups?
I need to create some variants of a big model - in it it gets too complicated despite "make unique" because the included subcomponents still keep their original instances information and therefore I am doing too many mistakes
( I have fallen into this component trap I set for myself so many times and have not yet attained the evolutionary stage of learning from my mistakes )

RE: How to get camera azimuth?
Hi, I'm not sure I understand your concern.
When you create your Plant-PNG as a component you can assign the behaviour "always point to camera" to this component. Then all placed components will always face directly towards your camera automatically, no matter from where you shoot...

From "Tommy" to SkUp-Donut
Hi All
Every now and then, often on Sundays, you get the idea for a little SkUp exercise. I put on the The Who album Tommy, as I often do, looked at the cover and thought: Yes, do something with it...
Together with SkUp 2017 Make and Enscape I used the two plug-ins "1001 Bit Tools" and "TrueBend", of course after some copy-paste and rotate and grouping first ...
Best and have a nice sunday

RE: Import Terrain
hi - if I understand it correctly you have a 7z file. This could also be a zip file. Your opened 7z window only shows you the content of this zipped file. What you have to do now is to unzip this 7z file so that you get access to these still zipped files.
The easiest way is to select the desired zipped files and drag them out of the 7z window to a desired location on your hard drive. These files are then unziped and ready for use as normal files.Best & hope this helps?

RE: Trying to draw an elliptical cone
Besides all the other good solutions above, here is another very quick one:
Not native but with the plugin Cruviloft you can also achieve this desired geometry with ease.
With the same tool and with the same simple principle you can get even further than just to the speakers.
In the middle is the circle - around it is a small number of elypses which you move (up) to your desired positions. Then you let the plugin work which generates the desired shape with the preferred segmentations and smoothing by clicking on the circle and elypses plygons in the correct order - Done!
(Above a certain level of complexity it is advisable to consider plugins rather than torturing yourself with the native options - especially if you are dealing with organic shapes)
