I had one last thing to try clicking and it seemed to do the trick, I deselected the 'Auto' option next to the Vector/Hybrid/Raster drop down and then reselected it, and that's done the trick.

I'd import that into Blender and try using either a Decimate or Remesh modifier to reduce the point count to get something usable in SketchUp. You also may have many duplicate points in that mesh which would cause chaos in SketchUp so some cleaning would be needed in that area too. I tried importing a 64,000kb monochrome .dae into Sketchup and that was completed within 30 seconds or so, but working with it was pretty much impossible. I tried running both a cleanup and converting triangular mesh to quad, but both failed. I've previously imported a small 3D scan of a room complete with textures as a .glb from an ipad and that worked great, but anything beyond that is a world of pain.

I think I understand how the UV mapping might get messed up when I first make the adjustments, but once the image is in place I simply "Make texture unique" and that used to resolve the issue.

@grizzler You should go to the PluginStore and update to the SketchUcation toolset v4.4.0 which has been specially reworked for v2024 compatibility. If deals with the SCF licensing for many extensions. If you use any of Fredo's extensions, he has also updated them all for v2024 use and don't forget his latest LibFredo too... After installing these restart SketchUp to sync everything...

If that's correct you could use a tag folder to contain the tag for the 3D trees and the tag for the 2D circle. Then leave the top level component untagged. Finally! LOL! Seems to me there's Lidar data available of at least most of England but I'm not sure if you can get that in a form that can be imported into SketchUp. I looked once but not very hard. Maybe you'll have to get one of those GPS gadgets and walk around collecting spot elevations. Then you can convert that into a point cloud. I've been wondering about doing that for my own property. Honestly, I expect if you need high res terrain data for single parcels of land, you'll probably need someone on the ground.

I'd say trial them all to find the one that ticks the most boxes. Quantifier and ProfileBuilder are probably the most cost efficient and customisable. But you do need both to be the most productive. PlusSpec doesn't have the same parametric abilities that ProfileBuilder does but automates others areas very cleverly. It does alot more than PB3/Q Pro though. MeDeek I'm not too familar with. He does have a bevvy of tools to pick from. There's FlexTools too. Its focus is Dynamic Components based responsive modelling so its very non-destructive. In short, I've not really answered your query......
