The only legit license for SketchUp is a subscription and has been for a few years. To activate SketchUp you would enter the email address and password you used when you purchased the subscription. You should be able to do that for two activations. That could be on two different machines or two different versions of SketchUp on the same machine. Presuming you've installed SketchUp 2025 on your PC, what happens when you start it and enter your email address and password? There isn't a free version of SketchUp for desktop and hasn't been since 2018. There's a 7-day trial but you shouldn't need to use that. Just enter your subscription credentials.

The serial number was part of the old Classic license system. SketchUp 2023 is only available by subscription. You won't get a serial number. The e-mail address and password assigned to the subscription is used to sign in.

Dynamic Components is part of SketchUp's vanilla install. It used be a Pro only feature when there was the Free/Pro products. There are DC related extensions out there but they piggy back on the core DC functionality. So it's best to focus on the native DC before improving it with extensions tailored towards particular use cases. FlexTools would be a good example of DC on steroids.

Sorry for the delayed reply - internet out! That's solved it! I had tried to re-install, but it obviously hadn't run through properly as I don't recall it asking for the SU versions. I'm now up and running. Many thanks for the advice!

with SketchUp Pro 2018 a workaround for testing purposes is available. In connection with a SketchUp Pro 2018 default program installation issue the following command at the Windows 10 command line ("Windows Search: CMD"): "C;\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2018\jsonpatcheditor.exe" Preferences WorkaroundDrawXorRectUseGLFlushNotFlushDraw b true If installed to a different program directory adjust the path accordingly. Close SU before patching resp. restart for taking the setting into effect. For removing the setting use: "C;\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2018\jsonpatcheditor.exe" Preferences WorkaroundDrawXorRectUseGLFlushNotFlushDraw r Reference (see section "Miscellaneous")

I have a Macbook and have these two OSes ... installed win on Bootcamp ... MY ANSWER : WINDOWS it is far more better ... faster on processing commands ... better graphic speed .. better plugin support .. etc ..

Another CadMouse user here. This mouse is quite different. Definitely large but that suits my hand size. Definitely heavy which funnily enough I have grown to really like. When I use a different mouse now, they all fell cheap and flimsy. The middle mouse button is great but I mostly use in in a web browser where the middle mouse brings up a link in a new tab. This is great. This mouse comes with a cord, not sure why they did this. The only real downside is the cost. I guess this illustrates my current motto - Cry once, be happy thereafter.

Nemerobis - You're probably right, but I don't want to purchase & have to learn a third program just now. I have looked at Blender too - but another (difficult) learning curve. Hellnbak - Good idea, I'll look for those programs. Personally, I like to read a manual read, hence going for the tutorial e-books. Cars are not exactly my passion but a great deal of my business is indirectly for Mercedes-Benz so it would be an advantage. PS. looking forward to seeing the moon buggy!

I havent seen that one before. I wonder what software they used for the animation as these camera movements aren't easily created in SketchUp.

I am wondering if some little gimmick like a mouseover/flyout show credit could work. Of course this may not be the format you are using. That is more like a webpage thing. In the real print world you just provide a Footnote and Bibliography.

Yes, I've been trying that myself. Further investigation has shown that is I set the scene manager to 'detail' (previously it was set to 'list') this seems to work. However, the files already effected by the problem will not re-open (the position they were last saved at being a view with complex shadows). At present we think it could be a clash with other software. I am continuing with the project re-building from a previous model (I'll lose about 5 hours work) with these new settings & save, save, save! In the mean time, if anyone has any other suggestions...
