Is not a swastika at all ... ses here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika it might look-like, but also it misses some design elements. A boat propeller could as well to look like a swastika.

What asks for work is the bottom, the "foot support", now is just a triangle, it looks like you were in a hurry and you had to finish it.
Finish it, make your wife happy, then post a picture with the flowers on it, to make us happy

it looks very promising ! almost like a sculpture, keep improving it! The base doesn't fits in design, maybe you can find something else...
the upper-right branches are too bright, they should be almost black, as they are against the light.
Feature suggestion: instead of those preset cleaning options (Erase hidden geometry, stray edges, geometry on layer 0, and so on), it would be nicer to have the possibility to save customized presets from Clean webdialog. Maybe a field for preset name, then save.

Alpha Mask is just a black image which have white areas representing the area occupied by object(s) in model. You will use it in a image editor to blend the model into a image, as Gaieus said.

What for? SU provides thumbnails for materials, it doesn't render... and uv mapping in SU almost doesn't exist. Why should one need it?
But, if you need one, is not hard at all to make. In fact, I could make it for you, just tell me how do you want it to look like

One at a time would be fine, but sketchUp doesn't allow exporting just a part of model. I tried to export only what was inside a component, but it ended with a dxf containing the entire model 
Often, when I want to rename a component, I get "The component name must be unique" alert message, but I don't write anything inside, i just click on the Definition Name field, in order to edit the existing name...
Is just me, or SU8 is far more full of bugs than SU6 was?

Yep, everything is fine.
Anyway, is not the first time when it happens, I can work with it.. I considered putting this on the forum to see if anyone else experiences such things and also I hope in improvements on SU 9
Model is small: a room with very little furniture, no complex geometry, origin is set on a corner of the room. SU version is the last one.
Maybe just another of many SU glitches.
