Also shapebender would work well there, though it would tend to actually warp the component, which I guess might not be desireable.

But you can export as PNG and then convert it to openEXR with another application like this http://scanline.ca/exrtools/ http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/index.html You could perhaps automate if with Ruby API for the PNG and auto-make/execute a CMD/BAT file to convert that to EXR... Here's an on-line converter - most image formats to EXR !!! http://image.online-convert.com/convert-hdr-exr

Or, you could use my Selection Toys plugin: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=14975 Personally I've assigned Ctrl+1 to select only Edges and Ctrl+2 to select only faces. Shortcuts I use all the time.

Hi CJL, You can load a background image as a watermark in Window > Styles > In model (the little house icon) > Edit tab > Watermark settings. There you can play around with the settings (stretch the image for instance) etc. Make sure to have some colour for the ground otherwise the background watermark will see through your ground. Edit: Here is an example I have just made with the fist image (rather kitschy) I found on the net. Obviously there's a kind of "visual contradiction" (to say the least) between the "photo-realistic" sky and the sketchy ground plane and model itself. [image: VucI_Untitled.jpg]

@remus said: ...The quadro cards are generally the best in this respect... yup @remus said: ...although quite pricey. in the meanwhile they have some cheapened models too as e.g. the FX370/570 starting at roughly 150-200 U$. hth, Norbert

@unknownuser said: Not unless you haven't saved the original file. It would be under 'My Documents' if the autosave function saves it before you do... Ah yes. Didn't think of unsaved models. The location of that can be set under Preferences->Files->Models.

Did you make your resolution bigger or smaller? What if you reset it? If they appear, just undock them somewhere in the middle, resize again and start docking them back where they fit.

The DWG export uses exactly the same units you are using to model with. The units can be changed on the fly from the Window>Model Info>Units pane. No need to export, copy over etc. Your model and the "real world" stay in sync. Anssi

sometimes that has something to do with layers. did you get a whole bunch of layers, when you imported? if yes, some of them may be hidden. the easiest way to get your model a bit more clearly arranged is to select them all (except layer0) and delete them. SketchUp will ask you, if you want to move the contents to the default layer (layer0). Confirm. perhaps that was the only problem...

Structural Standing Seam roof systems are ideal for lower sloping and longer spanning roofs, or where extreme temperature variations exist. Is this an ad for metal roofs?

Its certainly a strange problem, and i think its must vary with the amount of memory youve got available, as toxic suggess. I just had a quick play around and managed to export up to about 4500 with AA on, also had the task manager open at the same time, and SU does use a load of memory when exporting these big pics.
