Is there a way in SU to apply a vertical metal roof texture along a curved barrel roof?

Have you got a texture and possibly an example of where it would be used? Im not entirely sure of the exact effect you want to achieve, although im fairly sure it should be possible.

Yes, but how well it radiates from the center and transitions from one segment to the next will depend on how smooth your curved surface is. In the red roof below, the circle used for the follow me command was divided up into 24 segments. As you can see, the texture doesn't transition from one segment to the next too well. The blue roof was created with a curve divided into 600 segments. Much better transition, but larger model.

Hi - In principle I recommend to use Fredo6´s ThruPaint to adjust textures on such faces. This tool allows a good moving, rotating and scaling of your selected texture. ThruPaint is one tool out of FredoTools.

As long as the application does not add to many polygons for your model, you could create an arched rib and rotate it around the shape corresponding to the segments of the shape.
