How do i get the curviloft with the sandbox grid? I create a sandbox grid and do the profile and path on it then loft?
Curviloft will create a sandbox grid as a function of 'skinning' or 'lofting', the grid is simply the edges which define the individual faces. You must turn on display hidden geometry in order to see them.

and is there a way where i can flatten some parts to the flat plane if i decide to remove something which i did and didn't like (undo is not possible)?
Once you have created your basic mound you can use smoove or Artisan (or even simply move edges manually) to deform it locally, either make it flatter or otherwise shape it. Undo should work fine. You can undo incrementally in curviloft as well, with the little orange back arrow, I think.
Let us know if you want more examples and/or post what you come up with.

I really like the simplicity of your model, not much in it but very effective, I like that, especially the wiring on the front and side, would love to see more of your wirk
From this ignoramus, who has not studied this at all, how can you tell it is a model rather than a 'photoshopped' photo (not to imply that ufuk would try to put one over on us, even in jest-test)?

RE: Generate face from closed spline object
Neat. Looks good.

RE: What is the name of this plugin?
Alas, my lack of decency, good taste and manners doesn't prevent me from saying the obvious:
You're a damn genius.

RE: Organic forms
The horse ain't dead yet and I just want to save you from yourself. I think sandbox and artisan are very likely your finishing tools, but to get the model to finish I must simply insist: make the 3d curve path, create the face which covers the box in the way you want it most typically and then use curviloft along path to make the whole damn thing ready for fine tuning.
No need to agree. Anyone.

I think Pilou used Ferrari to skin the loop
OK, thanks, Rich. I'm hoping he'll wander back here to fill in the gaps.
OK, Ferrari, too performs differently on the flat, and seems to have some quirks, but it did do a nice job with default settings on the flat.

RE: Generate face from closed spline object
Help us out here, Pilou, re: fredo6 BZ. Did you re-draw it or transform it or what? If I convert it to classic I have no option to face it (and I get a slightly different curve). (I know there are two sets of icons; interestingly my Cadfather set does not show a what looks like a facing option (for 'dogbone' or 'tbone') which the standard set has.)
For that matter, please help with the ferrari plug as well. I used it once wit the default settings and the curve as drawn and I got something seemingly useless. I undid all the way but the tool was inactive.

RE: Generate face from closed spline object
Thanks for the explanation. A case where the tool is more capable than the description? Certainly something like yours should be a part of the description, at least for me, if they would like to personalize it.

Sandbox from Contours makes a point cloud from all the vertices in the selection and triangulates that. It does not adhere to the edges. You can see that when you feed it contours from a steep terrain and there's few vertices, the generated geometry will often create faces that intersects the contour edges.
Thanks, Pilou. I will try those also.

RE: Generate face from closed spline object
Uh, why does sandbox from contours work here? I tried it myself and it did, but I thought contours were by definition at the same elevation, not warped through Z as this shape is, either vertically or laid flat, where SFC works.

RE: I have a problem with su
TIGs tool no doubt would be the easiest (I have not used It) but you could easily slice it manually with the native tools: draw some vertically oriented faces through the shape and intersect them with it. You are almost there.

RE: Never upload your work to 3D warehouse!!!
Best to chill. No choice really. Google doesn't care much, if at all. If you share, know and accept the risks or you'll give yourself a pain. If you are looking for accolades then you can post appropriate comments when a thief is spotted, as you have done. But the thief won't enjoy any rewards and you have your good ratings intact, and we all appreciate your generosity. Look at all the nice models which have been shared, with not much thought of a reward, mostly in the spirit of sharing, perhaps with a dose of ego blended in for 'good' measure. Be of good cheer; don't let titi bring you down; he is not likely a happy camper.

Looks great to me. Thanks for sharing.

RE: Organic forms
I believe another option would be to use follow me or other tools to get your shape as you want it (constant Z) and then use 'shape bender' to align with a 3d curve. gilles would know.

I don't think you mentioned that. Perhaps I should have guessed.
Curviloft: loft along path.

RE: [Plugin] Loader for Rotated Rect, Circle and Box [6/14/12]
Sounds like a nice idea. I'm PC but someone else will likely be able to test before me.
Thank you, Michael. I hope Uncle Sam is pleased, as well.

RE: Organic forms
I think there are some ways of smooving that would help; the selection of faces is the key, but another approach might be to create a profile with which to use follow me, like a half circle, faced and deformed. Make a curve to follow and round the ends.

RE: A tricky wall problem
Sure. Make copies to try various ways. It seems likely that you have the items in groups. If so explode and intersect them and delete extra entities. Try editing with attention to inferencing to govern entity creation and editing. If you post a model someone can be more specific, rather than making very general guesses.

Nice looking model, Jose. Very nice.
