      Did you catch me cheating?

that makes a different shape than what's intended.

I thought he wanted the plan views before and after to be the same and I thought they are with the method indicated.

Try draw an half circle on one of the axes.... The projection of this new 'climbing path' on the 'ground' STILL should be a half circle - but it ain't - why ?

    • RE: Arc deforming ???

      Thanks, again, kind one.

How about (similar to Trevor's suggestion):

      1. arc
      2. face it arbitarily
      3. push pull
      4. tools on surface: connect two original end points

    • RE: Titanium curved facade

Looks very nice, from a distance...

How about some larger detail images so we can see if it leaks?

Nevermind, that is definitely not the point, at this point. 👍

    • RE: How to regular subdivide a shape?

Try making a 'from scratch' over your shape, then intersect selection after selecting both.

    • RE: Arc deforming ???

Thanks very much, Peter. Very helpful to me. I will come back on the morrow.

Why is the arc with the moved endpoint (row 1 col 2)(which is no longer an arc) no longer an arc? And to be thick, some are no longer arcs, others are (and this is the point?)?

Row 1 col 2 doesn't really follow original in plan, does it, because right the end has been moved (or was that a false horizon?)?

I'm glad you guys know what you are talking about without being aided by pics.

Such would relax the brain into complacency,

      or ease it into insight.

Nice work getting it done, and nice render. Please consider posting these as you make them.

Hope you guys got it sorted out...

      Where's the candy, please, sir?

Here's the final result, with 1296-sided spheres. I will use vray to make some cliched eye-candy! The walls will be very colourful and stripy, and the spheres will be a mix of glass, frosted glass and metal, the ceiling will be a light-source and the ground a mirror. I will make a 360x180 panorama from where the camera is now.

As for SU, you might try placing the shadow casting object back out of the view in a position which casts the shadow where you want it and scaled so the shadow is correctly sized.

That's helpful. Rather than 'dummy', I'm calling the material "shadow casting transparent png."

    • RE: Shadow without object

Very cool. I will struggle to remember that one.

To clarify, as far as shadows go, aren't they either there or not, no degrees of shadow shown as would be the case in reality as for semi-transparent, somewhat opaque materials?

    • RE: A Thread for Fine Design

I watched the video in place and didn't post anywhere but here. (I also have in place a no negative comments about my negative comments request, also posted elsewhere.) Regardless of what claims the author of the disclaimer may have made, my eyes show me otherwise. The center of the log does not look to be of very poor quality; making compost or heating chips in this fashion is, I think, energy wasteful. If the intended use as firewood was defeated by this use of this piece, some other round would be used as firewood? The disclaimer seems like rationalization to me. In my view the end result would be better and more elegantly achieved by other means.

    • RE: Greetings!

Hello. What kind of feedback do you seek? Design, model, render? Everything? Is it a public restroom with the bidet by the sink and the door? Not likely. The room seems large enough to allow for a more discreet placement of fixtures. Fairly cave-like. Any chance for natural light and outside, landscape views? Lights seem bright and contrasty.

All things considered, a very nice effort.

Since your link is to a surfacegen thread it is unclear what you want. A picture would help, don't you think?

    • RE: Shadow without object

I'm unclear as to whether this is a render issue rather than a SU issue. As for SU, you might try placing the shadow casting object back out of the view in a position which casts the shadow where you want it and scaled so the shadow is correctly sized.

    • RE: Moving componets together

Looks like it is not moved because it is not picked, as you say; perhaps it is not in the component. Try stepping out and picking.

Check outliner (window->outliner) to see your groups and components listed and see their hierarchy; what's inside of what, etc.

Give us the model or some piece of it and we'll know for sure, maybe.

Copy all and do an explode on a copy to drill down until you can pick the vent.

    • House builder plugin - garage_tour.skp

The house builder plugin formerly came (I think) with a sample model with scenes used as a tut for getting to know the plug. A copy is attached here. For me it seems to only contain text and guides. Either the file is corrupted or less likely there is some V8 incompatibility. If anyone has a good copy of this, please post it here. Thank you.

Nice render. Perhaps more indirect light since that is what the design is all about? I guess that is hard when you are looking toward the directly lit outside. Kimball?
