That must be because of cutting edge's plan VS insertion points VS axis VS face to glue on.

EDIT:

Sometimes the components are just slightly off face. In these cases they might still glue to face and cut opening but Sketchup will start asking if you want to fix the model. It says it fixes but it doesn't and keeps going on like this... Everything will work ok but section cut faces won't be perfect... You can just ignore warnings in model info.

Well Kris I am still running the one you just sent me so I can't vouch for the newest.

I still don't like the fact that I had to go to all the trouble. Makes sense that if you are pointing everything back to 2013 it should work. Oh well.

I think the problem with most font making applications is the limitation of their scripting for kerning! They seem to generally do a fairly poor job. You can straight away see the problems with many free fonts.

That said I think Layout's engine has problems reading font scripts. To see this open any application and type a few words then do the same with layout and you will note the difference.

Could be enhanced if layout had "optical" kerning and not just "metrics".

They guys at SketchUp Artists know about this and are trying to find a solution. I have the same problem on my work machine but it views fine at home.

Ah, gotcha. I just did a test with a model that only had 3 GE images imported and it worked great.

However with 35 separate images in the model I am working on that would take much longer than exporting it to obj for import into Max unless I am mistaken.
