I had the same problem and I was placing solar panels on a large roof space. Best way to find duplicates is to edit the component and make the face or shape colour and then change the opacity to half. any duplicates will then be staked and show on the model as darker. then you can simply delete the dark components.

With 360 segments a circle has only 1 degree subtended for each segment, irrespective of the segments' length. With more segments the shorter the segment length for the same radius; but the sensible [self-imposed] upper limit should be something like 1.mm [or a lot less to be practical for large radii!]. The circumference of a circle is 2PIr, so to work backwards from a radius to 1.mm segments use numsegs=(2*Math::PI*radius/1.mm).to_i As the radius increases the number goes up proportionally... radius >>> numsegs 1.mm >>> 6 5.mm >>> 31 10.mm >>> 62 50.mm >>> 314 100.mm >>> 628 1000.mm >>> 6283 etc... Note that ~1591.mm is therefore the radius limit as ~9999 segments gives segments of ~1.mm long. So a circle about 3m/10' across is the limit for 1/mm segments... BUT of course thousands of circle segments translates to many more thousands of edges and facets when it's extruded into 3d... which is a sure fired way to kill your model! So don't be silly!!

Just for some extra tips I suggest you read Eric Lay's RatBird tutorial in CatchUp #5 http://sketchucation.com/catchup/ It shows how using native tools you can create nice meshes.

Well, if you drew the cross section and welded the lines and arcs before using Push/Pull, you wouldn't need to soften the edges.

Sorry, didn't answer one of your questions.... The Firefox plugin worked fine for me. Running the latest version of FF. Now worries with sat imagery too.

awesome. thanks for the detailed post and instructions. this topic has been coming up from time to time and the community didn't really have a way to direct those with problems to a more detailed explanation and advise.. instead it was more of "well, this works for me" type of stuff (which can be fine in many scenarios.. it's just that in this case, the application bundle itself comes into play and i personally don't feel confident enough to advise others to go digging around in there ) anyway, i'll now just direct those with material migration issues to this thread. hopefully this can get sorted out eventually but for now, i think your suggestions will do just fine.

@gaieus said: See this topic: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23925 It's caused by too many (or certain) plugins. Not too long, just 5 pages all, so go through and identify which plugin you need to remove/change etc. Thanks..got it.

UU3D is a good app and is a pretty good price. It has tons of features and works well with the UVTools plugin. Take the time to learn it and you won't regret it.

Trial all of them then make a decision on what suits you best. There's lots of topics on the best render app but the best is usually what you enjoy the most. I like TwiLight and Thea. Others don't....but what do they know

Mac1 Thanks. I've had a look, my skp was not marked correctly from the window aspect. I am now working an a new plan, but without side extrusions, it should look a little more accurate
