@cotty said: They only changes their positions, no problem @Involute: I hadn't thought of you having layers turned off. You might find the Purge All plugin to be a useful thing. You can set up a keyboard shortcut for it and it'll give you a report of what got purged.

I'll have to remember to "Save" the scene once Axes have been aligned with model if the Extended Standard Views is going to work. Thanks again to "wind-borne" and CLF. Regards to all Nino

@driven said: Hard links are different on a mac, they are modified (from the unix version) for use with TimeMachine. They work on files or folders…. I'm familiar with how Time Machine uses hard links in the backup folders. Shortly after it was released, I spent some time on Apple's user support forums trying to explain to curious users how it worked & why they should not tamper with those folders outside of the Time Machine interface. A surprising number of Mac users noticed the backup folder sizes added up to more than the total backup space used on the drive & tried to "fix" that.

Thank you, Dale! I´ll look up this information about the Idea Center... as far as I´ve researched, i can create a library of objetcs there (which I was also trying to find out how to do... ) but I haven´t managed to import any SU files yet. I´m aware that on version 10 the quality of that import is perfect, but when I find out about that import on V9 I´ll update this post! Thank you so much for the help!

@adamb said: Computer monitors normally have a display of 1.8 no, Windows PCs are using 2.2, Macs 1.8 And like srx said, gamma is only one part... There can be huge differences on different monitors. display panel type quality of display and color system color space calibration software settings / profiles But for a quick start you could at least adjust the different monitors using a calibration chart (if you have access to the other system) - otherwise adjust at least your system... But it will always be a problem since you can never be sure on which display your picture will be shown. You can only calibrate your own system to be at least sure to match the standart. @chedda said: does anyone here calibrate regularly ? I use a hardware calibrated NEC PA 271W with NEC MDSV Sensor (automatic calibration). Calibrated to sRGB.

So when you hit Ctrl after getting the Rotate tool, do you get a little + next to the cursor?

Hi Sachi, hi folks. By default, the North direction is along the green axis. If you did not change it, measure the angle between your line and the green axis. After clicking on the line to start the measurement procedure, slide the cursor on the protractor to get a snap from the green axis. This allows you to get the angle, even if the line doesn't intersect the green axis. Just ideas.

Incidentally, I have also written a little tutorial on this topic (as it seems to be "hot" for relatively inexperienced users of SketchUp): http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/37-beginner/136-aligning-the-rotate-and-protractor-tools

@jean lemire said: Hi KSor, hi folks. There is no need for guide line or axes changes. See this SU file for ideas. Ha, ha, but Jean I beleave the problem is "how to slide along an edge tha is NOT parallel to one of the axes" - that's for the bolt. I beleave this "sliding along en edge" (if I only knew it !) can be used to move the arcs too. some minits later .... Oh, yeah I got it - that's better ! THX Jean !

I know man, its a bit of an overdo, but first of all I wanted to see how it looks, and second of all, its a way of preventing such failures later on when I'll [actually] design, so I know everything works as it should (no dodgy, unprecise geometry etc...). Without this I wouldn't know SU doesn't like small scale geometry

I updated my graphics driver. SU is maybe a wee bit faster, but not easy. No, let me change that. I rechecked Preferences and now I can choose Hardware Acceleration. I checked it and restarted SU. Yes!! Now it works great. Thank you!

The animate function (and animatefast, animateslow, animateCustom) can animate any atribute. And any attribut can refer to an other attribute. This way to animate changes the custom atribute Anim and any X child's attribute refer to this Anim parent's attibute. You should imagine Anim attribute like a timeline, 5000 frames long in this example, controled with OnClick = animatecustom(Anim,5,,,0,5000). I used animcustom to set de duration (5 seconds). Then, you must make childs animation sequences like on any timeline based animation or film making: [image: O6ub_TimeLine.jpg] For each child you must define the time range of animation (with two if statements), the start and stop attribute values and transform Anim value to right value range and give it to the right attribute with a "Anim to Attribute" equation. Attribute = IF (Parent!Anim>StartFrame, IF (Parent!Anim<EndFrame, Anim2AttribEqu, EndValue), StartValue) In this example, the Comp2 must start to move at Anim = 1000 and stop at anim = 2000, so the child attribute (X in this case), the start position is X=0 and end position is X = 1000, and Anim to X equation is X = Parent!Anim-1000 (when Anim = 1000, X = 0 and when Anim = 2000, X = 1000) X = IF (Parent!Anim>1000, IF (Parent!Anim<2000, Parent!Anim-1000, 1000), 0) I hope it's clear enough...

TIG: Did as you say, and that solved my problem and also got my slices in a better shape (due to the size of the model). I upgraded the plugin to Slicer5 and Im enjoying it even more Jean: And now I can atlast get rid of these colours ! I'm glad I made an account here, you can't expect any better support than this. Hopefully in the future I can provide the same support as you guys do. Cheers!
