File size management issue
-
I dont know how I go from a model that is 11 megs to one that is 48 megs while actually shrinking its size. In the process of redesign I have substantially reduced the size of the house I am modeling and the complexity of the house. I have no more components than before and no more layers than before.
In the process of redesign I did have the previous model side by side with the new model which was being built over imported autocad floor plans which made it very large and unwieldy.
So I can understand how it got to 48 megs. But deleting all the previous house model and even the imported floor plans reducing the amount of stuff in the file by maybe 60 percent doesnt reduce the file size at all.
It is still reading 48 megs on windows explorer.
What is going on here?
This is not good because I want to be able to to email this thing back like it was emailed to me.

Have you purged unused components? ( Window /Model Info / Statistics /Purged Unused)
Are the Layers that the stuff you have deleted still there? AutoCad uses lots of Layers. If they are still there try deleting them, and you'll note that sometimes the dialogue box that appears says there are still objects on that Layer, even though you thought they were gone.
Good luck. -
The purge did the trick! Great post. You definitely deserve a banana for this. Thanks
