Certainly purge all unused stuff, but if your model is large due to the nature of the model, Chris Fulmer had a great tip regarding using scenes to handle large models. It is a very creative way to deal with this issue. Get Jpeg of your actual design elements {tile,wall treatments, wood etc} and import them into sketchup and apply them to your model surfaces.

Trevor has a good point. If the thing will only be shown with the O-ring in place maybe you don't need the groove. But, if you did, you could do as Kris indicated. Sometimes the most straightforward way to do it is to draw the negative space, intersect it with the board. then you simply remove what you don't need. That's how I did it here. Thanks TIG, that was exactly what I was looking for. Krisidious, I downloaded the file hope to look at it tonight. Does it grab texture sets from web pages too? Or just from SU models? My posts are probably correct? Life has been a bit chaotic the past 6-7 years, and in survival mode I sometimes am off the internet for almost a year at a time before I get things moving again. Does anyone know how the Model Translation Attributes affect the eventual location in Google Earth? Im trying to get code to geolocate a model too however just entering a longitude and latitude manually in sketch up is not working. Im getting the long and lat from a place mark in Google Earth but when I put those values in the Sketchup model manually the model is placed far away from that place. [Edit: My problem was not converting from the degrees, minutes and seconds format in Google Earth to the decimal format used by Sketchup. e.g. https://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/degrees-minutes-seconds-tofrom-decimal-degrees] Im still interested to know the purpose of these attributes i.e. model.set_attribute key, "ModelTranslationX" , -12901579.2256146 model.set_attribute key, "ModelTranslationY" , -214086056.635273 Thanks... For stills I use Gadwin Print Scrreen I do not know about the other apps mentioned above but it's important to have a delay function as it can be used with all the modifier keys for SU.

Quick rule of thumb: onyl control visibility with layers and only put groups and components on other layers than Layer0.

Thanks TIG! I will give it a try. I do have smart offset,and Im going to look what else you have. Any suggestions? Maybe you would consider making one I have in mind. Check the Welding topic I posted earlier. People have work arounds and thats great but people could make out really well with a great plugin for welding. Something similar to the format of engineers toolbox.
