You can either download the file with the red Download button and then use Install Extension under Preferences>Extensions to install it or, better yet, install the Sketchucation Plugin Store plugin from the link at the top of the this page and let it automatically install plugins for you. BTW, please complete your profile with OS and SU version. It'll be helpful in the future.

@unknownuser said: ntxdave, If I understand.....why not look at creating a.pdf "portfolio" It will require you to have Adobe Acrobat Pro (maybe you have already?) If you create your "slides" (pages) in LO and either export to .pdf or print to .pdf you can then convert the file to a .pdf portfolio that you can share wih your clients/etc. Backgrounds/colors/styles of the portfolio can be custom or just use stock templates. Upload a small .pdf file and I can quickly create a portfolio if you like. C I appreciate your reply (especially since it was the only one ) but this is not at all the direction I am looking to go. I did go take a look at Portfolio. I do not want a static file like a PDF. No animation of the objects on the presentation screen and no 3D objects. We already use PDF files for "static" information for our customers. I am looking for a PowerPoint/Keynote type of product that will allow me to insert SU (or other 3D modeling) models/components that can be displayed and manipulated during a presentation. I do not see PDF as a "real" presentation package in any sense. If I am wrong, I would be happy to be corrected/updated. Since I got no other responses, I am going to make an effort to go define how I would like to see enhanced in LayOut, or a new presentation product offering that would more fully exploit SU models. Part of my dilemma though is where to post it. I toying with the idea of putting together some UI suggestions for what I would like to see.

I saw this comment by thomthom about another plugin but it seems pertinent to this conversation - "I haven't used the tool, but common convention for tools is to create the entities they create within model.active_entities instead of model.entities. It also allows for the best flexibility. Since it is the convention with the native tools and pretty much all custom tools it is confusing if the geometry is created in a different context." Seems to me that SolidTools clearly violates any conventions that are normally in force. KrisM

@dave r said: Try selecting all the geometry and run Intersect Faces>With Model. I have already tried to do intersect Faces>With Selection – but a message "No intersection found between selection and the rest of the model" appeared Only after I posted my problem here in this thread and tried again I realized that the dish like shapes where not selected even I drew a huge selection box over everything which made me think they would be selected but in fact they were not, now I’ve selected each of them individually then it worked

When I loaded this model SU said it had problems. Fixing problems made the hulls unsolid. So I chose not to fix. Like you the solids did not make a solid when combined. Solidsolver could not solve it. Starting back with the three separate components: Solid inspector found one tiny tiny hole in the hull at the inside gunnel. I fixed this and made it a component and placed the hull mirrored on the opposite side. Combining the solids again failed to make a solid. Solid inspector showed numerous errors in the resulting group. Too much to work out. I scaled the model up 1000 times before using outer shell. That worked and scaled down OK to be solid.

Dave, thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish is the move/scale balance on the doors. Do you happen to have a door template with formulas for how to achieve that? PC, thanks for all the detailed attachments & template file. I've imported a door to try out the features in our Mozaik program, but when I render it back out to SketchUp the rails and stiles are all stretched instead of staying at their constraints. Thanks though, nice work if I was only drawing cabinets in SketchUp!

@kellenraid said: .......But on one edge, there are these triangles; though small, they kinda ruin the smooth edge. .......Is there a fix for this? ..... Temporarily make hidden geometry (all the edges) visible. Did you try to smooth the triangle's edges by sweeping the 'Eraser' tool over its edges while holding down [Ctrl] This will smooth the triangle's edges and will make one large smooth surface.

Thanks Jim for the work-around. I've definitely commanded the pieces to the "0" position using XYZ "=0". I essentially fixed the problem with Cotty's method of re-doing the local origins of the components. However, not that the pieces are back I wonder if you guys can offer info for scaling. I'd like to door to be able to scale & move pieces to fit a cabinet. Meaning, if I change the width of a cabinet, I want to tell the program to move the left & right stiles, and the scale the rails to fit the new width. Similarly, if I change the height I want SketchUp to move the rails to fit & scale the stiles to their new heights. Could use some genius on this issue!

You can only reference attributes a distance of one component away. Parent -> Child, Child -> Parent, Sibling -> Sibling. So if you need deeply nested DC's then you need to repeat the attribute at each level.

Prime Gray (yes it's SLA) and Form 1 prints should be very similar. Prime gray also has those little bumps from the support structures. In your case, I'd look up someone with good reviews on 3DHubs or MakeXYZ with a Formlabs printer and have them make some parts for you to see if they're good enough for what you need, and go from there. Might turn out to be your best option!

I question if the SSD will do as much as you want. I use one in may machine and of course opening, saving should be quicker but normally the drive should not see a lots of use unless the model load is so large the paging file needs to be used , but it looks like you have more than enough memory. My working memory sets and private bites usually in low to mid MB range and CPU usage and memory in the 25% range. I do not render however.
