@nina792 said: HI! i was wondering if someone here can make me a big favor. Need to import this dwg to sketchup, but i don't have the Pro. If you open it, you'll see 2 equal drawings in 2d as a block and one exploded in 3D. I need just one of them; if its in 3D better, but if it's not possible i can work with the 2D See my post to you in another topic of the same nature.

@lights1 said: Dave, Thank You for providing the detailed evidence based explanation. I was going mad! I will change the precision to 0.000000 Just remember, you'll probably want to change it back to something coarser if you need to add dimensions for display. I would make a template that includes the higher precision and disabled length snapping so that it doesn't need to be changed for each model. @lights1 said: And locate the plug in that allows for coordinate tracking like your screenshots. No plugin required for that. That's just the native Text tool. In order to get coordinates displayed you have to click on endpoints and you have to be in the same context as the endpoints. That is, you have to have the group/component open for editing. @lights1 said: I'm done for the day, but will start fresh tomorrow with purpose! You have literally just made my day, night, week & month. Thank You. Nothing like a glitch to bring one back down to earth. lol I'm happy that helped. It's nice to know I made someone's day, too. Good luck when you get back to it.

Maybe that's a good enough reason.

That's my replacement mouse arrived & plugged in. I forgot just how good it is to use; just hope it survives longer than 9 months work this time.

@john2 said: ...in favor of AMD with respect to openGL support? steamcommunity. com fast OGL output for 3D gaming and an accurate OGL output for 3D modeling is a different thing. sure, bigger (x64) is better... not. Using the 32-bit version of SU will verly likely avoid issues with the flaky 64-bit OGL support of the AMD Crimson driver... has done it already at least for most other users. but hey, as always, it's up to you... live with the crashes or fix'em by using SU x32... at least until AMD provides an mature OGL x64 support. if ever buying a new device an SU relevant for you, go for a dedicated nVidia GeForce GT(X).

Not in SketchUp. You could draw the dimension lines and brackets manually. You could modify dimensions created in LayOut to look like that although for perspective views, I think drawing the brackets in SU would be easier.

to neutralize clippping bug: switch to parallel view do zoom extends scroll mouse wheel 'till desired. The cause of this clipping- you've got some objects (or whole model itself) placed too distantly from origin.

SketchUp have problems creating faces that are smaller than one square millimeter. It has no problem Showing already created small faces though. The solution is to make a component and copy it and resizing the copy. After that you model in the enlarged copy and you will se the correct result in the original component. At last years SketchUp basecamp in London Felix Heuman & Anders Lyhagen showed how they created classic architecture in extreme detail. They worked with columns that were 1 km high to get the level of detail they wanted. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=179%26amp;t=62983#p576780

I HAVE HAD THIS ERROR FOR A LONG TIME AND ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY: I end up having to save the file manually and keep changing the name. Autosave does it and "Save" does it. I am not on a network, running as admin, saving to "documents/xxx. It started when I upgraded to Make 2017.

+1 All kinds of issues signing in. Sometimes it works, sometimes no... I get the message, "Authentication Error ! Something went wrong during the authentication process. Please try signing in again." Even after deleting the file as Pixero suggested. Solution - open IE (I use Chrome by default) and log into Extension Warehouse there, then open SU, go to Extension Warehouse, then I can log in again and it worked.

@dave r said: I finally had a chance to look at the location in Google Eart. It appears the buildings were drawn in SketchUp after all. But the link provided to the model in GE is no longer valid. since they stopped accepting SketchUp models some time ago, it would indicate the model is old. I tried searching the 3D Warehouse for the listed authors but they don't seem to have a presence there. Contact google and maybe you'll have some luck. Thanks, I will try it.

Thanks Box, you are a genius. Unticking 'use maximum texture size' worked perfectly. I'll get my Graphics Card updated as well. It's a work computer and tech support is slow.

It's not a very good image to use for Match Photo becsause you don't have a good set of lines running off to a vanishing point on the right. You're going to have do the best you can but it'll be difficult to get it correct. Was there any perspective correction applied to the image?

Okay, now the situation is that I found an old setup of sketchup 2016 (version 16.0.19912 - 64 bit). I installed it and it ran fine. My plugins folder was renamed as "plugins_latest". Okay so far so good. I renamed the folder back to plugins, and sketchup still started. I closed it and restarted it again. Then it crashed with the same "amd driver has crashed and recovered error" Now I renamed my plugins folder back to "plugins_latest". Now sketchup as usual created a new default plugins folder and now its running fine. I also did registry cleaning with CCleaner. I think the culprit is some plugin that crashes sketchup. What should I do now?

OBJ is another 3d data file. In Pro you can export in that format. There's an OBJ importer available... http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=obj_importer It has the option to flip the YZ axes as well as choosing units etc... It's slow, but free. There's also a paid importer by Fluid, that is faster. http://www.fluidinteractive.com/products/sketchup-extensions/fluidimporter/
