chippwalters, Yes, I forget to mention that possibility. I don’t even know if there is any such ruby but it should not be that hard to reproduce a scene since that data is saved with the model. The only thing is you have to know where to ‘look’ to fetch it. I enjoyed doing this. success, Wo3Dan

The bezier curve did the trick. I am already familar with soapbubble. These were the main ruby's scripts that I used to make this. Oh, also used line2cylinder ruby. tesilestructure.skp

@remus said: i think the autosave fature is only there to cover your back if SU crashes or your PC crashes. Although it deletes it to the recycle bin, so go through your recycle bin and it should be there! rem Thanks Remus. I feared thought it would be something like that. Unfortunately i was working on a file on the sever, hence no recycling bin! Regards, Sanio

Hey, I tried this tutorial a while ago and liked it a lot. Then just today I thought: Hey! let's see what Chris' SketchyFFD can do with this. So I used it to make the skirt a little thinner at the middle, and give it a little whirl, and here's the result: [image: BYXT_skirt.jpg] First I had to rotate it 90 degrees, then drape a few parallel lines over it, then rotate it back up again. This is in order to make it "sliced" transversely several times, so that SketchyFFD would work. This same slicing can be also done by intersecting the skirt with some horizontal planes on top of each other (I don't know why I always forget I can do that), or with Dale's knife tool included in his SDS plugin, but I don't have it yet .

Right on, Plot Paris, I always love your creative input and responses. I was getting a bit frustrated with sketchup (only a tiny bit), when I wrote the last post, I was in a very tight dead line and had to work with a file from a larger architect firm, that I don't want to mention here. I do work with huge master plans and having some layers is kind of unavoidable. I agree, in modeling exclusively on the default layer and separating only by colors. Still I'm insisting on google to fixing the nasty camera bug, I can work and handle around it, but don't really want to.... Anyway despite the little bugs, sketchup still is the greatest tool I've ever worked with, so thank you for giving us this great tool google.

I'm with tinanne... Personally I leave the sky to white (like in SU5) and then I might use a background sky-image, a sky-dome or a style... In my latest project I used the Instant Watercolour 2 made by Ross Macintosh... [image: 1Bft_Scene3-Water2.jpg]

Well obviously I'm in metric... My custom template is set to centimetres and I use three decimal (.000) precision. It usually is precise enough for me. That would be about 1/64" I guess but certainly it is easier for us just to add some decimals than keep counting in fractals.

Jean and Greyhead were dead on the money. I had given thought to Jeans' very idea, thanks for the conformation, and had tried Greyhead's idea. I think Jeans' idea will do a better job with the profile and then push/pull or follow me. Mike

It does it to me too. I'm not an expert but I figure the refresh rate of my video card just can't keep up with my orbiting. Everything reappears when I stop orbiting.

Well Tom, two years I worked for a builder/developer and that is exactly how I would do it. The plans and elevations would get developed and finished and then I would build a 3D model for use as marketing material. Sure with SU you can do the model 1st or the other way around. It just depends on which way you want to go. No right or wrong, just find the way that works best for you.
