Hi Aaron, To tell the truth I'm not a style wizard but my opinion is that when a style uses vector based lines it doesn't have a stroke setting while the ones using raster based lines have this setting (since they need these raster images to be defined). You can "mix" styles in the style dialogue or - if you have a Pro license - you can use Style Builder to create your custom styles. I'm moving this topic from the Tutorials forum since it is not a tutorial. Also, read about the basic concepts of styles by Ross here. It will explain things more deeply than my puny answer above.

It is very easy if you can create two pins more to position the image in the face. Then you can texture the whole model with an image like projected.

Hi Molly, I answered your other question regarding the user profiles here in that topic. There are a couple biiig projects a lot of stuff of which has been posted mainly in the Gallery Forums (this was posted by me for instance ). as for animation export - this must be different with every application. SU creates camera viewpoints and connects them with a smooth camera move. In some application these viewpoins get through and can be used for animation - but I'm not sure aboul all. Kerkythea can do it for instance.

I will definitely try it, Majid but alas no sooner than the week-end. Both Pete's and your solution seems to be a cool idea.

I wrote a whole long detailed answer and accidently hit the back button on my mouse and lost it all. So I apologize but this one will be brief, but hopefully succint. To find the VCB which appears at the bottom right hand side, click on the "maximize" icon at the top right of your working window of SketchUp. ( You may have SketchUp slightly minimize. To move items successfully do NOT use the move tool by clicking on any old surface of the object. Click on the point you wish to align with another point. Click on endpoints or midpoints to align and snap to other endpoints and midpoints. To stop SketchUp from wanting to snap to things that are too far away, change your Snapping precision. Window>Model info>Units. Change precison and snapping measures for Length units and angle Units to something much smaller and you will find you won't be forced to snap to some "gross" measure anymore. Surfaces that have been created on another surface and then moved away are actually still attached. same goes for components. You will only be able to move off these surfaces in the same plane anyway. According to the rules of "sticky" geometry SketchUp should really be distorting the original surface and edges when you move the smaller surface off, but it doesn't because there are just too many 'folds" that it would need to make. Instead SketchUp just knows that the surface is still attached and behaves accordingly. So if you try to move any part of the original surface, the item that you moved off will be affected as well because it is still attached. To properly move a surface or component off of the original surface, after you have moved it off, right click on it and from the context menu, click on "unglue"

@unknownuser said: OK this one is more speedy Pilou, Excellent! That makes perfect sense. Never occurred to me but certainly much quicker. Pilou, yesterday I tried to make a spiraling TIN tube by cutting what a thought was a properly angled segment from the TIN tube and duplicating it. I couldn't get the pieces to match up perfectly so I gave up. Perhaps you might have some ideas how to accomplish? Fred

yeah, some more modifier keys would be really cool. some examples: Move Tool: press Shift+Ctrl to break a line at the cursor point (so if you hover over the midpoint of a line, press these keys and move upward, the line is broken and connects the endpoints and the altered midpoint) [image: FYaJ_break_line.jpg] press Alt+Ctrl to do the same, except that an arc is created instead of simply breaking the line into two [image: IN1k_create_arc.jpg] that would sometimes really fasten up some operations.

@jean-franco said: That's my hoby. But since I discover SUp I'm doing too much virtual works My wife ask me to visit more often my shop!!! Anyway I've a lot of fun with you guys. When I started with SUp I had a very good support with Dave Richards. I learned a lot and still continue with all of you. Thanks[attachment=0:1etw4h3o]<!-- ia0 -->Petite table Louis XV_couleur.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:1etw4h3o] Jean-Franco, Your work is beautifully detailed and proportioned. Please continue to share! SU does certainly seem to have an addictive quality for some of us, and add to that the pleasure of sharing your work with kindred souls from around the world... well it is no wonder we are spending more time in the virtual world. Our spouses will just need to adjust. BTW, I did a quick Google Earth visit to Mulhouse. I'd never heard of it before and was curiuos. It looks like a very pleasant small city. Fred

You can also use the Outliner dialogue to easily arrange the definitions and nested components/groups in your model. True that you need to keep everything well organised for that.

Thanks for the feedback I appreciate the information and advice. As you say, it is a workaround. I would still like to see a more direct, built in, approach to achieve those results. Thanks Steve

IIRC the EXR format works with Photoshop, it's basically a few HDR's mashed together with different amounts of light settings.

This is really cool Thanks! (although I seem to have overkilled my machine by trying to stretch the component to the horizon)
