It won't automatically make dashed lines. You have to set them to be dashed.

You didn't ask but if the section view is coming from SketchUp, explode it and then change the desired edges to dashed lines.

you can import them into SketchUp and then add them to a LayOut document which you then save as a Scrapbook.

[Bang. Bang. Bang] That's my head banging on my desk.

And of course you can do hybrid components; import stuff drawn in SU, explode them and then edit the resulting LO lines before saving as a scrapbook.

Who can type before letting a hand off the mouse? We actually did notice this a long time back, and since it was different than SketchUp (you can do either in SketchUp), I think I filed a bug. But it's such a lower priority that it hasn't been addressed. Glad you noticed πŸ˜„

Hey, no problem. sometimes it's just some little trick like clicking or not clicking that does it. Those little things become so automatic that it can be difficult to identify what it is that is the missing link in the process.

My hope and dream as LayOut is improved under Trimble is that commands and pick sequences act the same from SU to LO. LO can be maddening at times when switching back and forth.

Use the one-shot sample tool to set the style. While in the dimension tool, find a dimension that is set correctly, and type "s". The cursor changes to an eye dropper. Click on the dimension that is set correctly, and now your dimensions have their style set correctly.

Insert the first model where you want it on the page.
Then put something like a + (2 lines crossing each other and grouped (doesn't matter what you draw)) on a shared layer so that you can see the + on every page.
Move the + using precise move to some point on your model.
Then add a new page and insert your next model.
Using precise move, move the model to line up with the +.

It could be a couple of things. First, if you saved your file but didn't update your scene, then came back later and did, things would jump. Second, a change we added in 3.0 M1 (release 3.0.4810 / 4811) is that when you edit a model in LayOut, the scene gets marked modified AND turns OFF "Preserve Scale". If we didn't do this, you'd edit your model, get it set up, exit, then the model would jump (because of the scale). Lastly, there are some instances where http://sketchup.google.com/3dwh/buildingmaker.html buildings would make a scene jump, and it has to do with reconciling 2D and 3D cameras. But that doesn't sound like your case. Do either of the first two choices fit?

Having the same problem as well. Only thing to do is to undo and retry. Happens especially when selecting text- the formatting jumps automatically to the top in the family. Let me guess you are using PC not Mac?

I'm not sure why scaling the viewport precisely would be useful since it would typically be the model size you'd be interested in.

I use it for joining to viewports with ortho views of sections that are at different levels.

    Example:

2nd Floor plan has one level at 6m and the other at 4.5m; At a given place the section that works for 6m ceases to work for the 4.5m floor; I have to create 2 floor plan scenes for each level; Inside LO I stitch the scenes with precise viewport through an axis or a model reference...

This shows the need for precise placement, however I always create a line in LO for reference so I have to have snapping on and with the line there I have no problem with scale.

I see. I thought you'd be using LO dimensions and leader text.

I've not seen SU text disappear before so I hope someone else who has comes along. I almost never use those tools anymore in SU.
