Expanding on the scrapbook...

Hi all... any ideas where I might find a good set of 2D drawing elements for use in LO plans and sections, such as toilets, beds, electrical, etc? Would be nice to keep file size down in the model by only showing those details in the 2D drafts. I know there must be resources for these types of graphics, but can't find them for the life of me! Thanks in advance...

I don't know of a scrapbook file for those but you can easily make them in SketchUp or perhaps download 2D files from 3DWH and make your own scrapbook files from them in LO.

I don't see any options for importing external models (like dxf files) as LO vector objects, which sounds like what you need. You could insert image files for some things I suppose but that's not really what you want, is it.
Since the scrapbook files are simply xml documents a suitably skilled person could write a routine to take dxf like files and create scrapbooks from them. Don't ask me though.

Scrapbook images can be made from SketchUp files so if DXF or DWG files are available for the symbols you need, you can import them into SketchUp and then add them to a LayOut document which you then save as a Scrapbook.
I made a quick example LO file with two symbols; a toilet and a bed. Open the file and then click on File>Save as Scrapbook. Now scroll through the list of scrapbooks. You should find one called Example SB with the bed and toilet. In addition to inserting content from SU, you could also use LO's drawing tools to create icons for the scrapbook.

[Bang. Bang. Bang] That's my head banging on my desk.
And of course you can do hybrid components; import stuff drawn in SU, explode them and then edit the resulting LO lines before saving as a scrapbook.
