I expect the dimension in your first screen shot is on a layer lower in the list than the viewport. I always keep dimension and other text layers above the layers I put viewports on.

As for the section plane, you may have turned it off in SketchUp but I'm guessing you didn't update the scene's style. Section plane visibility state is a style setting. You can turn it on or off without updating the style but then the state doesn't get transmitted to layout.

Section cut lines are not snappable edges. You can place a section cut face or create a group at the section cut to get edges and corners you can snap to. Sometimes I just use guidelines to create snap points. Then I delete them when finished.

The multipage layer+copy/paste workflow is really handy in LO. The only thing missing is some kind of text that would behave like autotext in a multipage layer, but with manual text instead.

NOTE: Autotext can reside in a multipage layer and still have different text inside for each page, like page number or page name...

Or by saving the scene in SU. Then LO will recognize it. Make sure selection in Layout does not say "modified", and is the saved scene in SU.

Mate I certainly vote for such functionality - I'd imagine easily achieved as "more options" in the accuracy dropdown on the dimension dialogue! I do all my floor planning direct in layout and are forever manually adjusting dimension values.

I am not sure I follow what you're doing but looks impressive.

I can't find a "Save Draft" button in LO. Where is it and what's wrong with it?

I meant the obnoxious one on this forum that's positioned and highlighted to be the most intuitive thing to click when trying to post.

Sorry; wouldn't want to give the LO UI guys an idea for something else they shouldn't, but probably would, implement.

that looks like font replacement going from the font used in the dialog box and the font used in the document...

it happens in SU with WebDialogs and Input Boxes, but I don't use LO enough to have ever noticed it there...

No way around it. Don't use "High" quality edit. If you don't care about seeing every update uncheck Render "Auto" for the models, select all for a page and render when desired. The latest version also saves a couple seconds (not that impressive). Closing the file after update might help?? Still a pause when you open each page.
At least a "render all pages" command, would allow you to go for a coffee break.

I've been working on various files, components saved to file to model then to reload, and various LayOut files in Dropbox.

Needless to say with multiple people using files, and downloading versions to work on each computer, it's getting crazy just to think about it and for sanity it seems I need to work all on Dropbox versions (while saving copies everywhere else). So far that works, but I haven't had anyone else try to use these files and test their linkages at other sites.

I couldn't improve on what you got using raster, and yes going hybrid... well I just forced quit before it finished.

Definitely changing the line size for the model view helps but it looks like you have already got it turned down as far as it would go.

Have you looked at your output yet--printed at best output?

Besides going to a real CAD package, if you have to get by with this, print to pdf at higher scale and reduce the image to print?

I agree TommyK... basically its a good system. Could be better but has a lot of power built in. I am using Sketchup for space programming (bubble diagrams) and have found I can add custom properties to a component, then get Layout to report them. So, like when you have <ComponentDescription> you can change it to:

    %(#FF0000)[<DynamicComponent(role)>
    <DynamicComponent(staff)>]

Where role and staff are custom attributes I created for my "bubble" component. Pretty cool! I just figured this out yesterday so there are probably way cooler things we can do.

BTW, attached is the bubble component if you are interested. You can change the area you want to change the size of the circle.

Did you install SketchUp v2016 as an 'admin' ?
If NOT then you might have several issues...
I suggest you try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it - using 'as admin' in the context-menu when the exe-file is selected [rather than a simple double-click]...

Have you saved scenes in the SU model? Those scenes should be selected to render in LO in the Sketchup Model tray. If the scene in the LO Sketchup model tray reads "Last saved Sketchup view" then that is your problem. It is very important that the link to the saved scenes in SU is maintained. If you do this, the LO viewport will not shift and you will have no yellow triangles. There is no need to redo any LO work if this accidently happens - leaders and dimensions are snapping to the SU model reference. Once it is rerendered to the original scene (assuming you placed all the leaders and dimensions with the correct scene selected), everything will automatically return in order.
