@otb designworks said: Brett, when you right click on a sketchup viewer you'll see an "update reference" choice. So two quick clicks and no need to access the document setup window This isn't true if the viewport is on a locked layer. And the fact is that working with viewport in unlocked layers is bad for your health. So they should be locked. Rightclicking on a locked viewport allows you to do nothing with that viewport. Also, to update all viewports in a page it shouldn't be needed to specifically right click a viewport. When you want to update viewport rendering you can righclick on empty space, why not allow for a second line to update viewport references in a single page.

Tried this way before, but it is a hard work to change all lines to white in all pages.

Hi, since you run layout locally, you should ask your sys-admin to see if something went wrong with rights/rules for user/groups on disk/folder/subfolder on server where your files are stored.

@richard said: @jql said: Well, that could be drawn inside sketchup even faster... And then you could convert that into a 3D model and render in Thea in an IBL background in the same day. Mate, you may have missed the key words "design sketch". I didn't miss them! My design sketches are done on site, on meetings and on paper. I don't know how much time I take to develop them. Then, what you do call design sketches I do not have. I replace that by designing a model as my first plans are also related with space studies, not floor plans alone alone. My space studies quickly evolve to models and my models are quickly rendered. I might still be talking about design sketches but inside Sketchup. They're not a morning's work, but a day's work. From there a quick presentation emerges. A 3D one with LO plans and some renders. The main idea is there but also the main model. As the idea evolves, the model evolves. There's also optimization there's also quick work, but there is not a 2D frame of mind. There's always a 3D take on things and a quick 2D LO output. On some stages, not even the 2D output is needed as we are talking on space changes, nor floor plan, LO changes. At least not in a fundamental way.

@calypsoart said: My wish list at this early stage of using LO: An automatic tag that reads Viewport scale. I have this in AC, find it very useful. Yes; there are often times when it is unclear which scale the dimension is taking; maybe there should be a dimension mode where the scales are represented by different colours? @unknownuser said: Dimensions update when Model updates. Without this, LO will never become very useful to me. Yes that would be nice... I made a video to demonstrate... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIqk818aEVg

@otb designworks said: I just tried the same process with Layout 14 and it is the same. Are you perhaps remembering dimensioning in Sketchup and displaying in Layout? Because dimensions do update with geometry in Sketchup. I am pretty sure layout has never worked like Sketchup does with respect to dimensioning. It was certainly never a deal breaker for me,, but it definitely and source of frustration, inefficiency, and also greatly increases the likelihood of sending a drawing out with an incorrect dimension. I have a very intense crosscheck protocol that I use with my drawings to help ensure that things like that don't slip through Chuck, I emailed Matt Donley who wrote "Sketchup to Layout," (which I bought) and he said he also thought the dimensions "attempted to stay attached" in previous LO versions. But do not do so currently. In my work, this makes LO substantially slower for me to use than AC. I guess I'll be sticking with AC.

There is no way to import text and line tepe, color. But... We can import dwg to LayOut via SketchUp scene with style. Then we can get vector and bitmap from imported SketchUp model, so you can change line type, color with LayOut way. Set the imported SketchUp model (scene) to Hybrid or Vector. (Window menu - SketchUp model) Right crick imported SketchUp model and select 'explode' and 'ungroup'
