@collage architecture said: Is there something between instance and faces size ? yes there is, and it's the "scale definition" property.. and i've found that may cause trouble for sub-d (and other tools/plugins too)

@Renderlessman I think high settings needs more memory, that is why carpet has black holes and incorrect fur.. Somethimes, closing and reopening the file solves the problem.. I Don't have any further information sorry..

A and B are to save/restore parameters. You can't make "disproportionate corners" with RoundCorners.

@fluid said: Pilou, Bool works for SketchUp Make and SketchUp Pro. the responsible thing to do would be to limit your bool tools to function on pro only, boolean functions are one of the functions that sets make and pro apart.

I think the question has more to do with the modeling software. In Max - the sun is just another lamp in the model that you can manipulate. In Sketchup - the sun is not present in the model, and the only way to adjust is are by the "shadows" settings.

Your Windows user-name is 'Kazım' - I assume you are perhaps Turkish ? That is an 'ı' not an 'i' ? In earlier versions of SketchUp using a non-ASCI character in a file or folder path was 'fatal', but in newer versions this can be avoided if the script's coding 'forces' the passed path to a file or folder into an acceptable UTF-8 format... So I suspect that this particular extension has failed to do that step. Contact the author and point out that his current code fails to encode strings for file or folder paths properly as UTF-8. It is a relatively easy fix [at least for the newer SketchUp versions]...

@mose said: the problem can be about materials, because not all the materials have the same effects in your attachment(floor looks quite nice). probably most of the materials have something wrong in common, try to replace one of the materials with a simple one and give it a try. If it also have the same problem, make your window non-transparent and add a ies light inside the room, so we can see if the problem is about your window or light outside. Dear Mose Thank u for your reply the thing is it was all fine and i dont know what exactly went wrong , i was editing the ISO and a vray rectangular light settings and then it appeared , i will try to override materials and see if the problem still exist , please find attached picture before [image: qRVZ_12.jpg]

If photo realism is what you're looking for in a render. There are 4 aspects to it: 1.Model- go as detailed as you can .. round the corners and edges, make sure there are gaps between objects so no clashing between objects. 2.Lighting. Make sure light source is balance. Try not to do much dummy light. let every light come from a pre-defined source, say window, lamp, etc. Unless you're doing a studio render, decide which time of the day you like to project in your scene. Materials- In reality, all materials has some degree of reflection. leaving one without reflection will make it dull.- Be conscious also of your mapping and texture scale. Vray settings- try to go higher settings (not the default) add Ambient occlusion and use the in-built color correction tools in the vray buffer. It will greatly enhance your image if you use photoshop. Even the best of the best in visualization use these tools. Invest time in reading the manual and do tests yourself. you'll be amazed at what you can discover. The easier way though is to download some render-ready models. and see the settings. You can even grab the materials that you like and include in your library. these are the basics but there are hundreds of parameters you can experiment on.

Hi there! Change the time settings in the Shadows panel. Usually setting the correct time zone, will get you correct day light.

Thanks TIG, I'll take a look. To be sure, I don't want to explode/ungroup the geometry, just make sure it goes to layer0 and that all groups (from the selection) end up on the layer I intend / specify?

@skeerc said: I've already created a detailed outline of the island using Google Earth in SKP. The Island is mostly quite rugged terrain overall. I'm fairly new to SubD/Vertex Tools & see the advantage of using the Quad mesh. Do you think SubD/Vertex Tools would work for this approach? I was going to break the Island up into large blocks (sections) to work on at first with maybe a grid format of 5000mm? to get started & then infill areas as required. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve Sorry if i answer late (too late i suppose) i missed this post at all. This can actually work. i'm pretty sure because i did a similar project and achieved a good result with the very same process you've described.. you can convert the low poly google earth mesh to quads, then detach some plate in the areas were you need more detail and use a mix of sub-d and vertex tools to add geometry and deform it as required.. you will get an heavy, but still workable model, if you manage it properly..

I've tried it both ways with and without a dome light and the sun angle seems locked at an odd and unnatural angle of about 5:30 AM.... (the sun is set in vray to +/-5:30 PM in June, in Seattle so trying to shown a little light on the north side of a building) I've since tried to turn on/off GI and several other things that might affect it. Maybe its overloaded or corrupt, but I've done bigger models before. The rendered angle doesn't change if I change the time in SU. Odd. I'm now copying the model into a new environment to see if I can work around. thx. ....deadline looming.... Greg

Could be that there was still a SketchUp process still using some of the files from the old version. Let me know if it should return.
