For me it was the "Save for Web & Devices" that stumped me at first. Because even once you get it imported, it seems all but impossible to save it as an animated .gif. It lets you export to any filetype, or regular save as a ./gif that is not animated, but the animated .gif type is ONLY available in the "save for web & devices" window. Maybe they fixed that silliness though for CS4, I have only done it in CS3. Glad its wokring now. I really keep meaning to look into GiMP too, Chris

@andeciuala said: Great results! Congratulagion thnx mate, coming from you guys this means a lot, to a newbie to vray like me..... oh and andeciuala, can you give me/us a tut on how you achieved that wonderful glass material, and also your studio setup, cause i have a real problem with studio setups. thnx mate. @40th said: Very nice 21D. For the glass material you should uncheck the "Reflect on Backside". Also increase the "max depth" to 5 (the default is 2) under Global Switches. Oh and lift the glasses just a bit, even 1 mm is enough. Your scene setup is very good btw. thnx mate, same goes to you, really appreciate your comment. I'm gonna try those tweaks asap.... I'll post my result in the GALLERY topic, oh that is also the reason for my late reply, because i thought everyone moved to the topic in the gallery section. but see ya guys later. and thnx again for all your comments and tips.

You can select once all plant-components in the scene, made in SketchUp, then in the material editor (Basic mode) check and mark "Use color map" them by double-clicking in one window (invert mask, if necessary), then on the context menu RMB or in Edit menu select "Replace by (keep proportions)" with Alpha Plane, then in the menu "Orientation" enter 90 degrees (Pitch). Then the only piece mark that it is Billboard, Adjust plane proportions and Keep vertical should marked too, it is possible in a single window, not closing after each point. It turns very quickly, I also use a lot of plants in my work [image: 8381b5e0de4bt.jpg]

Solo; just read thsi in the Vue manual: @unknownuser said: Panoramic View Real panoramic cameras are fixed to a handle that you have to hold when you take the shot. As it takes the shot, the camera rotates around the handle, thus embracing any required angle of view. Panoramic views can yield beautiful results. This option is a numerical equivalent to the real panoramic camera. Here also, the camera is rotated as the render engine makes progress. All-around panoramas can be achieved this way, but beware: if the camera is not perfectly horizontal when you take the shot, the horizon will undulate. This is not a numerical artifact: it happens also in the real world! When you select this option, the panoramic H Angle slider becomes available, letting you decide on the horizontal angle swept by the camera as it rotates. This appear to be what happened to your VUE environments.

@solo said: Thanks Thomthom, a new trick, however it makes all shadow areas very blotchy. Screenshot? That property is quite important to be set to 0.85. Damien had some techinal reason for why this spesific value and why it should never be 1. Don't have the link right now though. In SR1.5 it should be set to that by default.

Aaahhhh well... We have a number of different domains... But the official site should be http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla I will ask our web admin (Greyhead) to re-direct users to the .net domain... The different domains we have are used for "storage" and test sites for upgrading Joomla and phpBB forum...

Kerkythea do have a powerful instancing brush feature. Cant say it would beat Vue7 in large scale animated nature creation, but in smaller scale it's fairly effective. Take a look on gallery or forum wip/final renders. Learn to use it with Instancing Brush Tutorial for 2008 Echo and get some model libraries and start painting your canvas with vegetation.

if you just put a little bit of effort to learn it, mapzone can be a really powerful tool when used in conjunction with an image editor like gimp or even by it's self.

Then it sounds like you have the original V-Ray for Sketchup. There's an update available over at ASGVis for download.
