I think he is doing a great job tbh. No complaints.

The next release is coming soon. I was working on a lot of internal stuff in the engine. In the future, I plan to do more frequent releases, as they give me a tighter feedback cycle and make the process less lonely.

          Hey, Rayscaper users!

Another release with some bug fixes. Thanks for reporting all those bugs!

Rayscaper 0.9.64 Beta is available in the SketchUcation store. As
always, I recommend upgrading to the latest version.

          What Changed?

          • Fix weird artifacts in the interactive render viewport.
          • Fix the upside-down images when saving.
          • Add transmission support for the PBR material. This makes it possible to create glass or liquid materials with the PBR material.
          • Fix a regression when renaming light components. Rayscaper lights should now correctly use the name of their SketchUp light component again.
          • Fix glass rendering, when multiple glass surfaces overlapped, Rayscaper would render them too dark.
          • Fix the render timer in the viewport. It will stop counting when the render is paused or finished.

If you like Rayscaper, please share your renders (final or work-in-progress, it doesnโ€™t matter)! This is motivating
and helps me showcase its capabilities to new users.

thank you for the new release.
I noticed two bugs with this release

              1. it does not Support SketchUp material inheritance anymore. Faces, or objects that have the default material painted on them, but the group that they are in have a material, show up as unpainted (with the default material).
              2. the rendered images have a watermark on the bottom, even though I have a license (and I doublechecked that it is connected)
[as a side note, any idea when you will connect the sketchup pbr materials to the rayscaper material properties, so that I don't need to set up metalness, roughness, etc, twice?]

                Hey @sashapepperspray

it does not Support SketchUp material inheritance anymore. Faces, or objects that have the default material painted on them, but the group that they are in have a material, show up as unpainted (with the default material).

Okay, that's a bug. It should inherit the material of its parent component or group.

the rendered images have a watermark on the bottom, even though I have a license (and I doublechecked that it is connected)

Also a regression, this was reported by other users as well. I will make an update ASAP.

[as a side note, any idea when you will connect the sketchup pbr materials to the rayscaper material properties, so that I don't need to set up metalness, roughness, etc, twice?]

This is definitely on my list. I don't want to commit to a hard date.

                Regards,
                Thomas

I've just been trying out Rayscaper, albeit on an underpowered machine with no dedicated GPU.
I have to say, its been a long time since I've used such an intuitive piece of software, without really needing to refer to the manual. Very much enjoyed using it and will be keeping an eye on it's development. The startup screen humour is genius as well, helps put you in the right frame of mind when starting work.
                      Well done

                            Hello,
Is there a way to rename the lights? I'm lost, I can't adjust the intensity of a new bulb because they are numbers and I have to activate or deactivate each light to locate them.... thank you

I renamed the light sphere component and that's not the right solution, it disabled them all. And now I can't add any more light spheres, only the spotlights work...

ok, that's good, by purging sketchup, I can add sphere lights again

                                  Hello, pixelcruncher,

                                  Great to hear!

                                  Hello,

Is there a way to rename the lights? I'm lost, I can't adjust the intensity of a new bulb because they are numbers and I have to activate or deactivate each light to locate them.... thank you

The lights take the names of the light components. Maybe I can add the option to rename the lights in Rayscaper itself?

This feels like a bug, do you have a way to reproduce this?

                                  Cheers,

in this scene, a series of bulbs of the same type and two others for the individual lamps. And I end up with the list of numbers if I want to adjust the intensity... it would be necessary to have noted the number of each light that we add...

OK, with the replacement of mats, some issues have been resolved. I have lightened this image to demonstrate what I think it a problem/issue. The cabinet doors here have a texture to them they have not had selected by me. Is this part of the ai changes? If it is, I am not a fan.

                                            hello,
yes, and under the hood and above the stove, the noise is too present (by the way, I like your rendering.) this noise problem on certain dark parts is recurrent with Rayscaper. But can you show a screenshot of the original texture that you applied to the kitchen furniture?Perhaps you could use a stronger emissive material for your light that illuminates the work surfaces, rather than a spotlight or sphere light?
