Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@ecuadorian said: ...I remembered that this script calls "pages" what we now call "scenes". As I'm new to SketchUp, I don't know why... Before SU 6, scenes used to be called pages in SU. I guess the expression remained in the ruby language since it would create incompatibilities otherwise. The same is for construction line / guide line (and you can still find a bunch or plugins mentioning construction geometry).

It MUST be a scam since Google doesn't allow you to "resell" your license even if you are bored ith the program and don't want to use it any longer.

Yes, for some clients interactive 3D is like a dark art or something like that, they're just amazed when they see something orbiting.

thomthom, you nailed it. I assumed SU7 would overwrite SU6, but when I looked SU6 was still there. Thanks! Ed

@thomthom said: I used the same method of a recent product design project. Lots of rounded edges. (and mine included an DVI plug, as oppose to your USB ) Though I for some reason found myself making the x100 version and then make an instance that was x0.001 smaller. I did that because it seemed that I still had problems creating the small faces, even though the instance was scaled up x100, which is why I scaled the definition instead. But maybe it was another problem... Leave the original on desired dimension and scale just the working-with instance. Use 10x 100x 1000x. The point is to have lines big enough to can create faces. If you round an edge with r=1mm and use 6 segments for 1/4circle arc, you will have each segment smaller than 0,3mm ! In this case 10x is ok. But are lots of situations when durring intersection you can't get faces because the distance between two lines is too small. In this case you will need 100x-1000x scalling. I used up to 1.000.000x scalling Don't be shy to scale... it's free!

A free workaround would be to take the model containing the scenes you got, save a copy of it, delete everything, then import your other model and position its origin to match.

Definitely try to play around the OpenGL settings under Window (SketchUp on Mac) > Preferences. This sounds to be a video card/driver issue and I suspect that turning off hardware acceleration would prove it.

Peter, yes. I drew the leg up to the point where I was ready to run Follow Me. Actually I drew it half thickness. I included a 1/4" radius are at the end of the path where the router would stop. Then I scaled it way up before running FM. I scaled it up by measuring the 7/16" thickness with the Tape Measure tool. I enter 1000 and hit enter to scale it up. After running Follow Me, Intersect and deleting waste, I measured that same line again, Entered 7/16 and hit Enter to scale it back down. Then I copied (Ctrl+Move) the half, flipped it, moved it into place and deleted the seam line. When you are drawing these sorts of details think about the tool you would use in the shop and how it will move. Or how the wood will move relative to the tool. I didn't do it in the example but if I were drawing that leg for a project of my own, I would probably redice the segment count for the roundover to no more than 6 segments. It won't look pretty up close but when viewed as part of an entire project, you won't be able to see the difference. It'll keep file size down and performance up.

And if you ever need a script that would add spikes to everyone of those faces, you know where to find that in the future too . Chris
