Very nice. Are you going to add some aircraft to the flight deck? looking at pictures of the actual ship, the bottom of the hull is dark gray, not orange (or red, like the designer's original renderings)

I know what you mean but I am not familiar with the sort of games you are talking about, too old probably. The interior is only 14' 8" BY 14' 8" and there is a 3' wide set of stairs too but that could be made narrower possibly. Could any setup allow for the games you mention? Without turning the television into a very expensive insurance policy. This place is only meant for a single person btw. Thanks for your points/comments, I will keep them in mind for the next one.

@bryan k said: Well it looks great. Why not go ahead and finish the exterior? Haven't modeled anything for a while... I hope to be able to continue soon. I'm planning to rework the rear wheel arches so they match the front. Also I remember the last thing I did was I punched a hole on the sideskirt for a muffler. For the rest I'm looking for contributors

@garydorn said: For reference , there a number of photos of wooden bucks there were supposedly originally used to hammer out aluminium skins for these bodies. Lots of cool historical car stuff on this thread, but as a woodworker I find these wooden bucks even more compelling as pieces of art than the (gorgeous) auto body that was hammered out on top of them!

@thomthom said: [attachment=3:2l5lnglv]<!-- ia3 -->FrontDoor.png<!-- ia3 -->[/attachment:2l5lnglv] I'll bring home some tracing paper today and sketch out where I think the control loops will go. I've had a go at the mesh for the door indents, following something I saw last night. see Tileable Triangle Inset - http://imgur.com/a/dEWXP [image: irHcF.png] The indent on the door panel appears to be raised above the door panel itself slightly. Here is my try - following the above method. This is with SU16 Make. [image: 4kHb_doorindent-mesh.png] [image: apMO_doorindent1-subD.png] SU file ; SubD test

Hello, thank you all for your comments. I already made a posting late friday evening, but the post doesn' show until yet (estimated 36 hours) so I make a sekond attempt. I changed the title to show some more items. First i show a isolator, used on railway phone lines. Second are some oilcans used on steamengines. The third is litle scene including all shown items. Only the persons are not my work. You find them as free download in the "SketchUp Components, Materials & Styles" Forum. @stinkie said: By the time I'm done with this, everyone else will be churning out interactive holograms that feel and smell just like the real thing. Hence the Wip a dee doo dah @stinkie said: Same thing in Modo. Everything got rotated; the Item List got really messy. Shame really. It'd be nice to have the same scene hierarchy as in SU, and to be able to import components as instances. Have you tried BlendUp, by any chance? Looks promising, but all I got, was an empty .blend file. Granted -I've only tried it once. No, haven't tried BlendUp. Obj import works just fine for what I need. I have a blank template scene with all the vray settings already in place, so I'm not sure it would add anything additional for my workflow. Might be worth testing when I have some down time tho. Since I know my SU models will come in organized by material, I keep that method of organization in mind as I prepare my SU model. The biggest thing I find is that I end up with too many materials. When I have my model in Blender, I'll duplicate the single mesh that I've imported to a few copies with only specific materials. For example, one will be the glass mesh. In the original mesh, I'll select all the glass, make the copy. Then in one, I delete the inverse, and the other delete just the glass.

Thanks mate, I am using Renditioner which does not work in sketchup 2015 where there is already a problem with memory. Sometimes it will open in v14 and sometimes not but I will try for a few more views.

Really very nice Dave!! I love the idea of the stow away cushions, and although the glass top is period representative I'm just not certain if that's grabbing me! I just thought of an option to the overall purpose of this piece. If the whole top hinged up to expose the seat cushion, while itself has a thin padding for the back. Love where it's going though!!
