@jim4366 said: This is one way to make a tetrahedron from scratch. Without a plugin. It seems that if the angle resolution is 1000 segments per quarter circle or better, it works. Same basic idea folding up a pentagon will make a dodecahedron. Using a drawn technique will always give some inaccuracy - although 1000 segments will often give a good enough result! Here's the mathematical way... The height of a tetrahedron with sides 1 unit long is 0.8164965809 units. This is 'simple' similar-triangle + Pythagoras way, with lots of sqrt(3) etc: see below... Draw the tetrahedron as a flat 2d shape scaled so the sides are 1 unit long. Draw the 3 intersecting lines from apex to mid-point of each side. Erase unwanted bits. Move Tool with nothing selected pick 'center' - which will be the apex when relocated. Pick the Vertex at the center and move up in blue [z] constrained with Shift-key. Type in 0.8164965809 [=(sqrt(2.6666666666667))/2]. The tetrahedron is now almost complete. Draw over an edge to make the base-face form. Use 'reverse' on any face so it's 'out' and then use 'orient' so all other faces match. Treble click to select all, make a Group of it. Edit the group and use the Tapemeasure tool to pick two Vertices [these are currently 1 unit apart] and type in the desire size for the sides of the final tetrahedron; confirm when warned and the whole group is rescaled to that side-size... Done.[image: NoNG_Capture.PNG]

You CAN enter group edit mode IF you are on a PC, have a shortcut key-combo set to do it... AND activate that shortcut using a WinScript key-stroke script... BUT it's not ideal See this http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=266830#p266830 and http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=11776#p11776

Jim . . . I got it to work and I have no idea what I was doing wrong before. It now appears as an option when I import. Maybe I had not closed and re-opened sketchup or something simple like that. It's beyond me, not to mention why I used to be able to import and then I couldn't. You know what, I am just happy that now its there and works ha ha. Losing my mind today!! Soooo many things i want to try with Sketchup and Twilight that my brain is fried from reading about everything. Thanks again!

So I'm hoping someone out there does what I do when I download an Installer for a new Maintenance Release. I make folders (on my E:\ drive,) and name them MR0, MR1, MR2 ..etc., and save the Installers there in the folder for the matching MR. ~

Ahh yes, I see what you mean. Yeah, not sure how to handle that in SU. The SU team could really use to build some of these features into their CAD import tool.

No - Selection Toys don't have any function to detect which objects is overlapped by another.

@unknownuser said: I realise that Thom's Transparency plugin is v8 only, but are there any 'stand-out' issues addressed that offer genuine excitement. Observer fixes. Being able to more reliably monitor the model. And additions/fixes to being able to draw things in the viewport - better UIs. @unknownuser said: Or is it a case of the issues addressed reduce your workload? Yes. Less hacks and workarounds. The thing is - there's lots of small improvements that adds up to a generally better environment to develop in. Most plugins will continue to be backwards compatible, but there will be a few that benefits from having a newer SU. It works with the old, but maybe not as good. Users of SU8M0 should absolutely upgrade to M1 as it fixes that cursed ray tracer bug which made many plugins act unreliable. A bit hard to sell a single API feature to the end user - as the benefit for the end user is what the plugins do with that feature.

@unknownuser said: TIG Well apparently it was my bad. When I loaded the correct and up-to-date SKMtools20110116a.zip, problem solved. However, it appears that delauney2.rb is required, as shown. TIG again thanks for the help. Ken So it looks like some other tools still use delauney2.rb - this leaves them open to fail when another script uses a different 'triangulate()' method outside of a class or module! It pretty easy to rewrite it to use delauney3.rb methods instead... Press the author[s]...

The second argument is optional. It just didn't exist in older versions.
