Wow, thanks. I need to hang out here more. It looks like I'm still hitting snags. The X/30° param would have to apply to the obtuse conditions, not acute conditions. It doesn't appear to be culling the right edges in some circumstances, and it's terminating early. Regardless, thanks for giving me something to tinker with at some point. Thanks sdmitch, used your code snippet to convert components to groups for MSPhysics. The reason is that MSP does not accept components for coupling with joints. The conversion of about 200 components with subcomponents into groups would have taken a long time...

Because each time I launch SU (SU2015 Make or SU8) I have errors like "Error Loading File C:/Users/PC/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/Plugins/pv_sketchytetgentools/pv_sketchytetgentools_class_loader.rbe" etc. I haven't found any information about this plugin on the forum. Didier, TIG In ~80% of cases, I'd prefer the old way (originaledges stay selected). The updated version of the tool is also useful in some cases. It'd just perfect to grant 2 options in one tool via say single Alt hit (for new-born edges get selected). Or, even better TAB key for selection cycling: original\extruded\connecting edges

I will do that TIG. I didn't do it after I made the correction, because the plugin wasn't mine and Jim over the years has made me a couple of life-saving plugins. I am not a code writer. I am sure others will find this not the optional solution, however, it does work for me. I would like to see this plugin modified so it is correct for 2019 and future versions of Sketchup but don't wish to step on anyone's toes. See the attached PDF document to see how I modified the directory "Toolbars" to make the plugin work. The short answer is I moved the plugin "Loader.rb" from the directory "Files" to the directory "Toolbars" The structure of the 2018 toolbar directory.pdf

There are a few plugins, I use Soften/Unsoften by cadfather but you can set a native shortcut. Just make sure you have something selected that included softenable edges when you go to the shortcuts menu, then you will find it as Edit/Item/Soften/Smooth Edges.
