It would have been a good idea to post this report in the tool's main thread. I almost missed this. Without your problem SKP itself, then who can tell what's actually happening? Is it failing on every SKP or one in particular ? How does it 'crash' ? e.g. it hangs, it bugsplat, it shows a zero volume result ? It works fine for me. It is possible to devise two solids which when one is subtracted produces a non-solid. Since the API uses the Solid-tools as a basis, please try doing a manual subtraction of one from the other - make a copy of the two solids beforehand and also do the opposite subtraction if the first succeeds. There might be some tiny difference in the volumes creating ultra-thin slivers in the subtractions, thereby causing issues ?? Do you still have v2 to retry ? The licensing regime doesn't change with version. So reinstalling v2 over v3 will probably work ?

I don't know if this is the right place to request for this. But please can someone send me the s4u-to-component v3.0.0 or v4? Or any free sketchup plugin that has the component replace option. Thanks very much

Hi Fredo, I deleted the rbz files. Re-downloaded them from sketchucation. They are working fine now. Thanks for the quick reply and fantastic plugins! John

@tig said: You usually get a better response when you post in any tool's main thread... That said... It's a 3-point rectangle. [Read the status-bar prompts] Click the 2d-rectangle's start-corner. Next click the second-point to set the rectangle's first side [you can also type a dimension + enter]. Finally click a third-point to set the rectangle's second side [you can also type a dimension + enter]. Note in some locales you might use a . instead of a , as the decimal-separator. e.g. 1.234 >>> 1,234 And also the locale's list-separator changes from a , to a ; That's not how it works on my SketchupMake2016 (free). I click the first point, then click on the second point and type a number into the measurements box. When I click on the third point I can type another number into the measurements box, but the numbers don't seem to have any effect upon the length of the sides of the rectangle. When I select the regular sketchup dimension tool, the various boxes I have drawn have no relationship to one another. For instance if I draw a rectangle that is supposed to be 36 units high and 4 units wide and then select the dimension tool, it might show anything from 45 high to 7 29/32 wide. Another box drawn with the same 36x4 dimension might show up as 8-5/32 x 45-1/2. There is just no consistency at all. I am sure the tool is behaving as it is supposed to, but I just don't understand how to make it draw a box of the dimensions that I want. vern

Hi glro! Thanks for you reply! ..unfortunately this solution doesn't fit my needs: I'm working with medium-complexity dynamic components and I was wondering if there was some tool capable not to export some of their INNER object I may actually want to make present or not. Say: you have a door and you can choose whether to have a door handle or not. In case you choose not to have it, I'd like to make it invisible (and I can do it with DC attributes) and I'd like not to export it in my components report. Do you understand what I mean?

Did you get yourself a copy? If you do I would be interested to know how it goes, what works well, what doesn't, if you don't mind sharing that information. I'm always concerned about the workflow and user interface issues from the perspective of a developer who is trying to understand the perspective of the user. It is always nice when a tool you are using is actually a joy to use (physical or software), and of course either a major time saver or it somehow allows you to do something that you could not do otherwise.

Have you used the filter options? Like if I filter by an unique attribute, say "door" then all other items though tallied are excluded. So a door schedule would overwrite to an excel template, then layout would read this minus the second row, the first being the header, may also be not shown as the header in your schedule would most likely be different. See attached with simple report saved to model, the boxes and pipes are exclude other than their total using reports.skp

TBoy, many thanks for the link. Box, you’re right, but AutoCAD has a similar command (addselected), which can save a bit of hunting and trying to locate the insertion point of a component.

That's a good one.. very useful. Functions automatic though, is there a way to control some settings, something like inscribe / circumscribe & tolerance? Thanks!

Hello, There is several DXF plugins for SU. A little search in the Pluginstore should answer your question.

I've noticed, mostly from models from the 3D warehouse or from folks new to SU, that there seems to have been unintended edge-coloring. Normally, I wouldn't have noticed, except when doing more "artzy" modeling or when emphasizing functional elements in the model such as process equipment and I turn on Edge Style > Color by Material. I know that I have often been in a hurry, triple-clicked surfaces or done a Select All and applied a material to edges mistakenly. So the script is handy for reviewing a model and doing a quick cleanup.
