Mike, I agree with Dermotcoll on the upper cabinet size thing, as well as lower cabinet size as it needs to open and clear island, looks like they will be too large as well as causing an obstruction, besides being against code. Why not have them slide instead? that way you can keep the over-sized look. The upper cabinets also look too high, whats the distance between counter-top and cabinets?

Hey thanks guys. I'm making great use of the technique I worked out for positioning foreground clip mapped trees to get shadows exactly where I want them, which for most shots to break up larger plain surfaces. Fairly simple trick of turning off perspective and orbiting till your camera and shadow cast match then where ever you want the shadow you can position the billboards (clipped trees) exactly WYSIWYG - very handy and very simple with NO testing needed! BTW yep the image is a little over sharpened, resulting from resizing for the web and a bad job of sharpening the reduction. @lapx said: I see you've moved to maxwell from Kerythea. What was the reason for the change? And which do you like most? Sorry mate, I've actually never tried Kerthy! I've been using maxwell since the early betas and now with the new plugin liking it just so much more! Now there is only a need to go into the studio application to include really high poly trees etc that would grind SU to a hault. The little ground plants in this scene if all present would do the same but the proxy and instance feature works a dream. The new plugin includes a trick little feature that includes it's own paint bucket tool to avoid the nature of SU opening the material browser (what a drag) each time applying materials. Another new feature is the ability to assign mapping direct in SU as cylindrical, spherical etc. Here is a shot of the SU scene! [image: KyMu_RANGE-2-HABITAT.jpg]

@unknownuser said: I get those strange reflected lights with Podium too. Just a slight turn in the view usually makes them go away. Hey look at that. It does go away a bit when you move it around. Thanks. I never thought it would be so easy. flynbrian

Oh dear, I leave the SketchUp community for a while, come back, and find this... Why did I ever leave? Truly this is very impressive, I've never seen anything like this in SketchUp before, I'm also amazed at how well it runs, truly impressive.

Hi your main problems are coming from tone mapping and exposure, if you adjust your image so its correctly exposed before you start adjusting material properties you will get a much better render. Im a bit out of practice with Vray but in Vray for 3dsmax you can adjust your exposure in the camera settings using tradition camera settings like F-stop and shutter etc.

Not very good at finishing stuff. This is another fighter, with big guns and a really shiny blue paint job. About 20m long with 4 auxiliary turrets. The inside isn't finished. I have been trying to put together a ship for the eve contest. All of these are not in style or within the rules. I have been playing as minmatar for 6 months. They have ships that are mostly ugly but some that are really nice. I need to get a workflow down. I might try for the prize but after that I am all shipped out and will probably switch to castles again, all these new plugins need some application in my old models. @ken28875 said: You have some pretty cool models. Did you build everything from scratch? I particularly like the interior models. That would be nice to see them textured and rendered with Vray. You can get a free 30 day trial from their website. http://software.asgvis.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=298&Itemid=233 Thank you ^^, oh those 3 interior scene models i borrow from 3d warehouse ^^, for that industrial factory too. I call it manipulation art. Yeah i know about free 30 day trials, but you see i working with pc made from wood, so i afraid that it can explode one day.. Ups i forget to add couple "abstract" images. It was rendered in Kerkythea using MLT. I had all the point lights set to produce soft shadows so not sure why they came out so harsh. Maybe I should be using spots rather than point lights or maybe it's something I'm missing. Agree with point about empty room - I just threw it together to practice rendering so didn't spend too long on it. Thanks for comments.

@d12dozr said: You can also export a Hidden Line view from Sketchup with the same view as the render, and overlay it in Photoshop (or similar software) using 'Screen' to allow only the black lines show. Thank you, I didn't thought about that possibility, it doesn't look to difficult to do. I'm gonna try. @d12dozr said: Solo has set up a 'Render This' challenge here. Hopefully this will help you get started rendering and give you some more ideas That's awesome, Thank you.

Bonjour Frederic, Very nice render. I like it a lot. Sketchup UV mapping is pretty bad, but you bed blanket and pillows look really nice. May I ask how you did the textures for them? I would appreciate if you could share them. Merci beaucoup et bonne journee! _KN p.s. I checked out your website. Really nice images. Which ones are real pictures and which ones are 3D renders???
