We would be happy to look at the model to find out why it isn't rendering in Shaderlight. If you would like to email support@artvps.com we can try and find out what is going on. If it is a large model we can go through options of getting it over to us when you email. Martin

Now if they could link them so that all you have to do is click MXM and then click that pencil, we would be golden! It's really the only complaint I have about the plug-in right now.

Here is an update, the emitter was a single plane at the top of the shade 3cm square. I think the effect is quite successful although i'd like to have seen a bulb as the source. [image: nnYa_Starkbedscene.png]

Yes, true, I also noticed it - however it was already too late (I told you did not do too much justice to LUp) The panorama was rendered at 8192x4096 spherical (extremely fast when the tour tool was already active) but for technical reasons, I resampled it to 8000x4000.

For me Rendering in general is a good idea, software specific is not really nessecary. At the moment the way this forum is set up allows you to access information fast without trawling through endless subsections for support information. Kudos to the team The only subforums that would assist this for me are a separate place for 'whatever versus whatever' threads and a place for polls and discussions of polls both of which are surplus to my own search requirements. Oh yes and wise words Mike.... Regards Sam

I have Neat Image and find it great. I tried Topaz Bundle awhile back but it didn't seem as good as Neat Image.

First of all, thanks for the kind words about e-on and our products. Kwistenbiebel, can you tell me what platform you are using LumenRT on? Also, does SketchUp crash with all scenes, or only certain specific scenes? If it's only certain scenes, can you send them to me? Thanks for your help. Nicholas

You have to add it by right clicking the layer and adding a reflection layer. This question should get moved over to the Vray category. Post there next time, you'll get a response faster probably.

@unknownuser said: Thanks for the input! I'm still a bit confused, why is kerkythea free, and what makes all other render programs worth what they sell for? Kerkythea was born from enthusiasm and with active community it did grow in a point when entering into the commercial arena was only feasible option for further development. Even with a new born Thea Render, Kerkythea did stay free and is still been developed (but in slow cycles). @unknownuser said: Oh: don't choose a renderer over another because it does displacement. It's a nice feature and all, but it's terribly slow -in any app. And as Gai says, displaced grass doesn't look good. Indeed! For grass I'd use instancing or/and post pro. I rarely seen good enough grass made with displacement (specially when comparing the added render time). Gravel, pavement, stone walls, water... those are good targets for displacement. @pbacot said: And can the same be said of Thea? Like said before, Thea can import kerkythea xml (be it created by Twilight or Kerkythea). Material systems are different, although some similarities can be find. Thea does a KT material conversion with some heuristics, so little fine-tuning may be in need in case of complex materials. Exporting materials/models from Thea to Kerkythea is not possible. Before jumping to test Thea, it's good to watch overview tutorials.

There is a "thea_path.txt" file in: "C:\Program Files\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\TheaExporter_files\thea_path.txt" This file has to be deleted. When you start SU again you will be asked to select thea.exe from Thea's folder. On Win7 the "thea_path.txt" might be located in: "C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins\TheaExporter_files\thea_path.txt" Anyway, using installer is the recommended solution.

Most render plugins adopt this approach. Grouped geometry with smooth edges appear smooth when rendered. I don't have Maxwell (can't get it to work) but I guessed this was the issue. BTW in grouped spheres make nice disco balls

I have it and enjoy it... I only use it for a few things but it's much more powerful. I just haven't spent the time studying all the things it can do. I recommend it.

Quick word of warning. If you decide that LumenRT isn't for you, don't do what I did and try and uninstall it using the Windows Control Panel. It completely screwed half of the programme drivers on my PC and despite reverting to a previous restore point I've now got to reinstall half the programmes on my computer.
