Hi James, There was a long thread about it a year or so ago. See here: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=46 Note that the render was made in 3D Studio and not by me but by a company; H2G2.hu (not a meaningful website because they are under construction but I shouldn't say a word either with mine ) Since these models are not current ones, they cannot get onto the 3D layer of GE. I think I have screwed up something with that mausoleum however because it seems to be out of scale yet they included it into the final, 3D Layer soo I now finally have a blue badge!

@jean lemire said: It is in the help that I always suggest people to read and reread. Instruction sheets, manuals, help sections, FAQ's, Google and search facilities are for wimps and the mentaly infirm. The best way is to ignore them all (and the post 2 before yours) asking the same question as every other begineer over and over and over and over again and again and again... until there is no-one left on the forum to help anybody. Isn't it?

Hey Kona, Try opening windows, then go to preferences, then click openGL. Try clicking on fast feed back instead of hardware acceleration. And if it is already on fast feed back then click it off and click onto hardware acceleration. From my personal expierence I prefer fast feed back since my graphics card is crap and shows that error all the time. I hope that solves your problem. ~Rsdevour

Probably the best place to submit a request is the SU wishlist forum on here. Personally i think including the perimeter would make the entity info more crowded than it needs to be.

Ive found the main difference to be the lack of a scroll wheel on the tablet. It means you have to always go back to the zoom tool every time you want to zoom, not really a big issue when you get used to it though. Apart from that i dont find their to be much difference, other than the inherent obstacle of getting used to using a different input method.

works like magic. Thank you both very much. I can tell it's going to take a little while to be able to use it effectively, but I can already do some things that I couldn't do before. So, thanks again. I will make an effort to contribute time as well.

A little trick! As all objects must be a group or a component For erase a position just explode the group or component then group it or make component again

@andriyg81 said: good model, one thing jumps right at me, i see a site plan, a bunch of staircases, but not a single ramp for a wheelchair. I am sorry, maybe i am missing something? I could be missing something. I have been building the model using aerial photographs and google earth's street view. There could be a ramp somewhere but not that I could see.

Tobbe, The realtime rendering engine of SU does not handle reflections. To do that would require realtime raytracing, and you would need almost a supercomputer to achieve that. You can either try postprocessing a SU-exported image in Photoshop or your favourite image-editing app, or then use a dedicated rendering application to add lights and material qualities SU is lacking. There are tons of threads and posts about rendering and rendering applications around these forums. This, for instance, is a couple of threads earlier than your thread: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=13978 Anssi

@brooks_vrx said: :? I'm working on a small project with 12 houses. I made all houses as an individual group and assigned materials to the surface and it rended nicely. I then exploded one of the groups, and now when i render the house it render the revers face. i don't know how to fix this problem and it quite a big task to change and remap the all metatarsals another thing i don't know why when i create a face it it doesn't assign the materials to both face some times it dose and some times it doesn't Sorry I missed you post. We have not discovered a good way to get email notification from new posting on the SCF which related to Render Plus products. (Thank you to Richcat for re-posting this on the IRender nXt forum). Here is the response we placed on the IRender nXt Forum: http://nxt.accurender.com/forums/p/1474/6312.aspx IRender nXt can only render one material per face. If you want a face do look different from each side, you need to make a thick surface - with two faces which are not coplanar, and place different materials on each side. If a face has two materials, we use the material on the front. If a face has only one material, on the back, we use that material. We keep discussing other options, such as: Always you the material which is on the side of the face facing the camera. This has the problem that if the back of the object is visible in a mirror, or reflected on a shiny surface, we will have chosen the wrong material for that face. Since SketchUp does not process reflection, it does not have this problem. Always create two rendering faces for each face. This will make you model twice as large when we extract it, and will take longer to render. We may offer one or both of these "solutions" as an option. However, for now it is best if you use SketchUp's "reverse face" feature where it helps and/or remove materials from faces which render from the wrong side.

Coplanar??? Have a look at this image! [image: NjJl_NonPlanar_cr.jpg] Selecting all the surrounding edges and running "From contour" from the Sandbox tools will create a surface however. kathy new version-1_1.skp

@unknownuser said: **":3ux7ncb2]...how would i make the sides of the staircase also raise \ like that is you get me whilst curving." You aren't likely to easily get the sides to raise using the push/pull tool. (If you do succeed, let us in on the trick.) Typically, such geometry is constructed, rather than taking a flat plan and "raising" it. You can use the flat plan as a reference, though, and base your 3D construction on reference points from the plan. You're likely to need the elevation view as well. You can construct without the elevation view, but the 3D-construct will be much more accurate if you include it. Here's an example from a past discussion: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=12511 I've posted the same model at the 3D Warehouse: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=c33b5756c92fd31c9e7d0b0047cf94a There are tutorials for spiral staircase construction in the warehouse, such as... http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=7672fd45565be2b53e4ec0bf8b876793 http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=3ff892f11dbb05184b13ef41335991d9 ...and many others... http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=spiral+stair&styp=m&reps=1&scoring=d&num=50 ...but most are not tutorials. Google has even provided a 3D Warehouse tutorial... http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=b9890f8eb19a731583b9bda21bd049d ...to go with a post at the official Google SketchUp Blog: http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2008/07/building-spiral-stairs.html There are plugins for creating spirals and helices, however, since you're working from a plan, they aren't likely to help in this specific case. Hopefully, the above references will provide you with the techniques you need to construct the stairs. Let us know how you're getting along. Taff
