      first one IN an e-mail
One reason not to get drunk:
3 guys were in a bus. one had budwieser one had bud light and the third guy had root beer
the first guy says to the third guy: get REAL beer. the second guy says the same thing. they all threw their dinks away and got on a plane. the third guy told the first guy to go into the bathroom and put something on and handed him a suitcase. he told the second guy to hit on some 15 year old girl. so they did. the first guy came out with a bra on the piolet told him to take it off. the second guy however started swearing to the piolet. he said: Thats it! im landing in LA get your stuff and Go you messed up alchohaulics!
      2nd one (better)
a 6th grader and his mom were at a table trying to solve a math question 2 trains are crossed with each other. one is going 50MPH and the other is going 50MPH they are 80miles apart how long will it take for them to meet then the kid says, So the people know how much of their life is left before they crash?

Are these the jokes that people aren't understanding?

The first...I'm guessing is not supposed to make sense. It is the reason you should not get drunk.
The second, though poorly told perhaps...is funny because the people are aware of the looming collision?

The sad thing is, I actually laughed at the first one, my first time reading it...even though it made no sense at all.

      EDIT:

And since I don't have a house, here's a quick modeling I did of the apartment I live in. Just moved in (lived in the same building but in a smaller apartment downstairs) and did a little model to see where I could fit all the furniture.

I made a very similar (but smaller scale) picture for my living room. To plan out furniture arrangements when we moved in. We have a 45 degree wall for a fireplace, and then a little pushed back area (from when people added on back in the 70s) so, it was a little bit of a design obstacle I thought.

    • From Render To Reality

I thought it might be interesting to start a thread where we could post, preferably along with pictures, projects in which we started on sketchup...and then translated into reality.

Mine...is almost certainly a relatively small scale project. I play guitar and I like to hang my guitars on the wall as a decoration...rather than storing them in their cases. So, I have a fairly large empty area at the end of my hallway that I thought would be nice for hanging an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar and a banjo. But, i wanted to paint something interesting as a backdrop...so I picked out this diamond pattern. I planned it all in sketchup, and then spent a lot of time using painters tape...and waiting for paint to dry. I'm satisfied with the outcome so far.

By the way...it isn't really shiny like that.

    • RE: Your house

      David,

Your house model (and presumably your actual house) look(s) really nice. In the pictures I used, I had only really modeled the front of the house in any detail. I'm going to go around and do the rest soon; plus some landscaping.

So...did you have blue prints to work off of? The reason I ask is due to the scale. You know, for me it is easy, as there are no areas of my house that are 30+ feet off of the ground. I could simply go around with a tape measure...it seems like that might be a lot more trouble for you. Or at least it would take a lot longer.

    • Your house

      Hello,

So...being new to both sketchup and home-ownership, it is only natural that one of my first big projects would be creating a 'to-scale' model of my home. I got to thinking, there is no way that I'm the only person who has done this. In fact, I would be willing to wager that 80% of us probably have.

Hopefully this topic doesn't already exist; but, I thought this would be a good place to post images of your own house which you have created.

why is it cutting my pictures off?

      • thanks for the tip. My pictures aren't being cut off anymore.

Do you know if there is a thread which gives a tutorial, or walk through on installing plugins?

I must be dense...or maybe I've been awake for too long. I still can't get it.

    • I must be dumb...

...because I cannot figure this out.

I've downloaded SketchyBevel.rb but I can't figure out how to install it. I keep reading that I must copy the scriptname files into the plugins folder in the "Sketchup Installation Directory". Where the heck is the "Sketchup Installation Directory"? I can't find it.

It seems like there is something very basic that I am missing...because I can't find anybody else having a problem with this.

      Thanks in advance.

    • Cube with a bullnose on every corner

Unforunately this thread was lost...but thankfully, I was able to get most of the information that I needed from it. The only parts that I really need to get back are:

      1. The link to the 'ruby-bevel' plugin. I can't even remember if that is what it was called...but you know what I mean.
      2. The link to the tutorial for installing plugins.

I'm sure I can find them with the search function, so maybe I'll give that a try a little later...if nobody relpies.

Too bad that video tutorial that andrity(???) Andy...i can't remember his name now.
