Also, to elaborate the "theoretical" issue; the "right click > divide (by segments)" command indeed works only for single lines. As a circle is welded from several segments, you cannot use this command.

Thanks for the quick replies. I ended up importing the model in 3DS format, although it crashed SketchUp the first time I tried it. Still, it's good to know that there is a solution for small DXF format models.

You might be able to find a useable stage model in the 3dwarehouse. 3dwarehouse.google.com It might help, unless you're making something super custom, Chris

Hi Jeff, There re no naming standards for SU itself although I would imagine that each profession has its naming standards but that's not particularly peculiar to the application (SU) itself.

http://www.smustard.com/script/CurveStitcher It can be a bit choosy about the direction you drew your lines in, so watch out for that.

Ha! I told you you should try it on version 7. My guess was because the software retailer said the number came from Google and I guessed Google would not be giving out v6 licenses. So I thought there was a good chance it was actually for v.7. Well, glad you got it to work, even if you didn't believe me Chris

Yeah, it's a GE thing. Also, some have glitches with uploading from SU and this is the way they "share" their content. Remus; that share/hide function is relatively ne in the WH so the onlykmz option was earlier.

The face of the profile may still be inside your follow-me result. It could be causing the break. At this point with endpoints off it might not be as noticable but if its there it should still be removed as it is extranious geometry. It might also become a visual glitch again if you texture the model - as such perpendicular faces often 'bleed' through. To check to see if there are faces in those locations zoom in and turn on the x-ray display mode. If theirs the old profile face lurking inside there it should be apparent. If there is delete it and your lines might automatically heal. (In v7 they are more likely to heal than in earlier versions). You might then find you can turn back on the endpoints if you'd like. Regards, Ross

Hi, I took the .jpg file from your s.kp file. I cleaned it up in photoshop (to remove all .jpg compression artifacts). Then opened it in illustrator and used the automated trace feature. Then simplified the linework automatically in illustrator and exported as a .dwg file. I imported that to SU and ran makefaces on it. So now it is a pretty clean SU drawing. Hope that helps. I can explain that whole process in more detail if needed later, just no time right now. The whole thing took about 5 minutes. Chris fllorplan.skp

@clj18 said: Hello, II am trying to display my model as a cross-section, and the building lines need to be thicker than the rest of the lines... thanks so much!!! I take this to mean any part of the building that is cut in the section, and you can control section line thickness under styles / edit in the fifth tab (solid purple cube"modeling settings"), section cut width. However if you are cutting through cabinets etc. and do not wish these to as thick, you're out of luck.

Simplify contours works on contour lines before you make the mesh. Didier's plugin, Terrain reshaper works with already existing meshes.

Or, you could use the hel_ramp ruby script found at the Ruby Library here: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/en_geo_page.htm
