    • RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

Hi, my name is Rick and I joined earlier this month. I am a finish carpenter living in B.C. Canada.

This is a great web site for learning SU. I have learned alot from just reading various posts and then trying the exercise myself in SU. Also, my recent posts were promply and accurately answered.

I used SU last year to draw two projects I had to build at work - a pool cue rack (not so ordinary) and an arch shaped walk-through (with keystone) in a custom house. Having a 3D image on paper certainly helped to get my head wraped around what I had to build.

Thank you to those who got this site going.

      Rick

    • RE: How do I make a curved face?

Thanks again folks. That was pretty simple. Is there a Ruby out there meant to create a face on a curved plane? I tried makeface.rb but no go.
      Thanks.

    • How do I make a curved face?

How do I make a face on the curve of this object?

Also, when posting on this forum, how do I attach a file so the image shows with the body of the message?

      Thanks.

    • Print preview

Is this normal in Sketchup? I set the scale in the print preview (PP) window, click OK and see my model on the page. I then decide that I want to change the scale so I close the preview window but it takes me back to my drawing. Wouldn't it make more sense for it to return to the PP window so the user can make changes and preview those changes again? That's how I remember Autocad working. Thanks.

    • RE: Broken line or arc.

Thanks folks. I didn't realize the path for the follow me didn't have to be attached to the shape that's been extruded. What a find!

As far as why the line was there - I thought Sketchup required a path for the follow me tool. I know I could of push/pulled the arc but that would have only given the reveal on one face (unless I am missing something here).

      Thanks

Well, I tried that and no go (hope I did it right). The attached file shows what I am trying to do. Thanks.

    • Broken line or arc.

Using the free Version 7. See attached file. I understand that one of the new features of Ver 7 is that intersecting lines will be broken. What if I don't want it broken? In my example I want the arc to be one segment - not broken where the line intersects. I tried the Weld script but it didn't change anything. Thanks.
