@dedmin said: Yes, You can convert a line to different curves using BezierSpline - http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=13563#p100509 But please, if You are so in a hurry to master SketchUp just use a search function in the forum. I'm not in a hurry, it's just that i have two weeks to finish this project, and i'm only getting to terms with sketchup.

Sorry to be a pessimist, but if you have a reasonably modern Nvidia graphics card (as you seem to, if it has 512 Mb of memory) I would guess that getting a new one will not create a jump in SU performance. When you make big models, the first thing that gets overworked is your CPU - SU is very CPU-intensive, and as it is single-threaded, adding more processor cores will not help either. Anssi

Is it in the Plugins folder? To check the correct path try this in the Ruby Console: Sketchup.find_support_file("Plugins") It is found under the 'View' menu [NOT 'Plugins'!]: have you looked in the right place?

Kevin, thank you for that history and information. I've seen photos of the bulldozers hauling the boats above the tide. Amazing stuff. Good luck with the drawing work. I'll be interested to see how you get one. Cheers, Dave

Good steps to develop a workflow, dereeei John; in SketchUp, you can practically model anything and everything (almost) but really the most important thing is to "see" the 3D world inside and work your way either adding details to basic, primitive shapes or subtracting (this is more rare).

Note that they can be very useful when you want to connect them (say) on the edges of curved surfaces. So keep in mind to sometimes turn them on as you might need them.

Hi folks. You can probably save the uninstall and reinstall of SU 8 with this trick: Rename the "Google SketchUp 8" folder. Use "SU 8" for example or just add -1 or whatever to change its name. Install SU 7. Normally it should install in a separate directory. When done, rename the SU 8 directory to its former name. You now have both versions available. Just ideas.

The sofa is too edgy and the pillow are too small and the colors don t match. Try some reference images to make it closer to the real ones. Take care! [image: 0Xuq_sofa-workshop-lg--gt_full_width_landscape.jpg]

Ok i found the solution : the first images have to be on the top of the final hi-res image and then pick up the captures by going to the bottom.. Then no problem

Thanks for the feedback on SketchyPhysics, Gaieus. I suspected that might be the case, which is why I didn't spend a lot of time creating a model and experimenting with the possibilities.

You can always split a component into smaller, separate pieces (subcomponents). Go and edit your existing component, select whatever you want to separate and turn that geometry a nested component inside the parent component. When you turned everything into smaller items, you can even explode the parent components but you can also keep it intact.

The Go2School DVDs look good from the point that there's consistency from one video to the next, and compared to the free videos, they fill in the gaps the free ones have. I found one from Massive Black on vehicle modeling for games with SketchUp that I'll be ordering also. What I meant to ask in my first post was are there any DVD sets organized like a content cookbook, you play the chapter for the content you're interested in and it goes through an hour of showing how it's build in SketchUp, with an emphasis on building the model for a virtual or game environment (there's a difference with making content for a game environment compared to making content used elsewhere). Some of the older books on game design were organized like this, but were written to teach Maya or 3D Max, and I had to get a second set of bifocals made to deal with nearsightedness (age and the genetic pool were not kind) so DVDs are preferred - otherwise I have to continuously switch glasses.
