@dave r said: I was in the process of making a graphic example. I'll post it anyway. <!-- ia1 -->Ovoid Perspective.png<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:3hulq9iz] <!-- ia0 -->Ovoid Parallel.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:3hulq9iz] As you can see, it would be much easier to select all of the geometry for half of the shape or any other amount in the second view than in the first. Definitely. And I admit, that's part of what was originally giving me trouble when I initially tried this. Much appreciated.

With curviloft, you will most probably get a group which is separated from the contours (and their "fillings") therefore it must have holes at the two ends. Copy/paste (in place) those ends into the "curvilofetd" group. (Or post your model, too, so we can have a look).

@keyaren said: ...however i have come across this name GAIEUS all over the google search results. Ah well, that will be me then - so I feel obliged to answer (or at least try) Check out this plugin: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32289 You can add different co-ordinates (in different systems) then if you wish, you can Position your camera (with a custom camera height - like that of the eye height of a person) and it will immediately turn into the Look around tool with which you can aim at your turbine, maybe create a Scene (to sort of "save" that view) and at the end, export images. For the final image to be shown as a grid of TIN, you can turn on hidden geometry under the View menu and display your model in monochrome (or hidden line) face style. OR unlock thee GE Terrain then unsoften it (so that its grid becomes visible) and delete the GE image (to show it with the default front face colour while the rest of the model can be textured)

Might be your system limiting your file size. I get up to 100 meg files and hear of others getting bigger. but depends on your system. 2013 seems to be more stable and perform better, can't say I've worked on any large models yet.

@rose123 said: Box -regardless, in version 8 it asked me if i wanted the component downloaded to the model, anyhow, and the choice was given to download it elsewhere. dave says he still gets that screen, so i guess i have to figure out why i'm not. i do appreciate everyone's input, it's a big help! If I implied I get that screen when I'm downloading through the Components browser, I apologize. I don't get that and never have. I only get that option if I have my internet browser open to the 3D Warehouse. when I choose a 3DWH model from the Components browser it comes right into the current SketchUp model. Don't spend anymore time trying to fix something that isn't broken.

yes if facet is not inclined and part of a volume! Else you must copy move it on an empty place Select only the face by clicking on its somewhere on the middle (not the edges! ) Align axes make that describe above "delete the short edge > create tangent arc" and copy move the arc kill the rest For reset axes, right click / reset above one axe [image: AB2I_inclined.jpg]

@unknownuser said: @unknownuser said: Would this Sandbox thing help with that? Better is use the Scale tool for make ovoïd form from a sphere I'll experiment with that. Thanks! So a few updates. I scrapped my original chassis and started over. I think this one is marginally better. At least, I'm getting used to making components and cutting them to fit. Here it is. I've no idea why the closest corner pieces show the blue side. I reversed faces and all kinds of things trying to fix it. Overall, I'm shooting for maximum torsional rigidity through the red axis, while keeping weight down. [image: ChassisWIP-01_zps12c73d73.jpg] Also, I said I'd post the one ship that I used the scale tool on. It seemed to work fairly well, though it's tough to get a good view of it without being able to orbit around a bit. I used it on the front "forks" on either side of the cockpit. I agreement with Adam on that having just had to render in Lightup some light tubes and gone through the process - LEDS at bottom: put emit on that face within tube, translucent tubes, & then interior point lights, with IES props added to them [image: 4etI_lighttubes.jpg]

So they're only needed to download plugins? Not for accessing the Warehouse through the browser, or to access the Help page or anything else? I notice, too, that when I access the Warehouse though the components browser, the option to download directly into the model isn't there anymore. Wonder why.

I've the same problem here, and try everything... I'll say only that being unable to have a vectorial dxf in houars and getting a 5200pixels' jpg in 5 second means only one thing: something is messed up with the exporter.

@unknownuser said: Better is use the free crazzy Top Mod then import the model inside Sketchup with the free Import OBJ by TIG By ? [image: 12.jpg] there is also a mac version I've been trying (and failing) to make forms like this in SU for quite a while. We need a Voronoi Tools-on-Surface plugin! Could make any shape you want and then seamlessly tesselate a voronoi pattern, I'm dreaming.

Another way of looking at this is "Geometry Density". You want appropriate amounts of detail - with drag and drop of components from external sources, its very easy to add innocuous content that has far too much detail compared to the rest of the model. I've seen simple school room models with more faces in a single coat peg than in the rest of the model! For this reason, I wrote a free plugin called Goldilocks which can help track down in your model, where you've got geometry objects which have more detail than the surroundings. http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/goldilocks Adam
