@unknownuser said: Better is use the free crazzy Top Mod then import the model inside Sketchup with the free Import OBJ by TIG By ? [image: 12.jpg] there is also a mac version I've been trying (and failing) to make forms like this in SU for quite a while. We need a Voronoi Tools-on-Surface plugin! Could make any shape you want and then seamlessly tesselate a voronoi pattern, I'm dreaming.

Another way of looking at this is "Geometry Density". You want appropriate amounts of detail - with drag and drop of components from external sources, its very easy to add innocuous content that has far too much detail compared to the rest of the model. I've seen simple school room models with more faces in a single coat peg than in the rest of the model! For this reason, I wrote a free plugin called Goldilocks which can help track down in your model, where you've got geometry objects which have more detail than the surroundings. http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/goldilocks Adam

Wow...thanks for the quick responses. Unfortunately my appreciation was a little delayed due to work commitments. It's not really paranoia.... I like to be organised and my house, garden in fact most area's of my life I like to be straightforward and compartmentalised. I have this vision of creating an exact replica of my house and garden, (which I spend 15 minutes a night creating on sketchup and is coming along quite nicely) and then adding information succinctly with visuals of the actual object to include details such as; hyperlinks to user manuals warranty info serial numbers servicing dates I even plan to extend into the garden and name individual plants with details such as when to prune etc... That way everything is in one place.... Thanks again for your comments...I have not yet seen the solution from your responses but I am sure there is such a thing out there. Keep the suggestions coming David

Thanks, Jeff. I do have links to a local collection. Is there any advantage to putting components in the sketchup software itself (e.g., putting it in the program files on the pc or dragging to the lower browser pane) vs. linking to a local collection? or is just linking the best way to go?

I think the real problem is that the image appears to be a gif file. Now although gifs have transparency, their bitrate is too low for SU. They are only only indexed 256 color instead of full 24bit RGB like jpg files or the 32 bit RGBA png files. You'll need to raise the image's bitrate in some image editor that allows a change of mode, then save it as a png with transparency.

And intersecting a face through the object will at least give you a closed face for one half if done in the correct context.

These should be moved to the Gallery, because you're no Newbie! Nice work. P.s. that man standing in the living room should be made into a "Face Me" component.

@gaieus said: Best would be to install this plugin first (it's distributed as an rbz file so you can install it from Preferences > Extensions). Then everything is at your hand and you will never need to leave SU in order to find and install a plugin from SketchUcation. Read more... Thanks, that worked perfectly.... Andrew

Exactly ! It is a bit hard at first to snap the both midpoints intersect in the middle but the you'll get used to it. And regarding your guidelines, you just need to select the face before picking the rotate tool and then you can rotate the face without worrying about rotating the guidelines. Well.. you said it first !
