      Hi Guys n Gals

Thought I would say a quick hello. I have recently started a new job with a group of consulting engineers in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Initially as a 2D CAD technician, but then I was at a loss for something to do after issuing a bunch of steel detailing drawings and was hunting around the network (it's all still very new to me here) and found a PowerPoint presentation consisting of two slides. Each contained the same photo of a country road leading up to a junction with an entrance to a farm on the left. The second slide differed from the first in that someone had crudely sketched in a path and post and rail fence either side of the entrance. I thought I could probably do better (yes, I know...) and set about editing grips and being a little more creative with the fill textures. Job done, I saved a third slide and sent if off to the original author. He came around to congratulate me on the improved version(very lucky, he could have been thoroughly hacked off with the interference) and we got to talking about montages. I said I'd been doing this kind of stuff for years (since 2001) but generally used stuff like AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max and Sketchup, extoling the virtues of Sketchup's photo matching facility. He suggested I download the trial and have another stab at the path image. I did and now I am heading up a 3D department, the company having invested in two SU Pro licenses and I am trying out VRay for SU.

This looks like a great site for information and I hope to be a regular visitor here.

Take care and speak to you all soon.

      Patrick

Boom goes the dynamite. Glad you were forward enough to do that. Heading up a 3D department would be an awesome job. Good Luck and Welcome to the Forum.
