    Well here it is! It may not be pretty, but it's not too bad for a first attempt. [image: gAPP_TurretWithRangefinders.jpg] Obviously it still isn't complete, I have to fit a ladder to each side for one thing, and of course I have to stick a couple of slits in the front face for a couple of 15" guns. There's also something not quite right about the periscopes protruding vertically from the sides of the turrets, I don't know just what exactly, but there's something I'm not happy with. I'll have to have another look at that. Inn general, I wasn't really going for accuracy or proper scaling with this attempt, just something that looked like one of the three main turrets Bismarck had, which had the range finders on each side. The fourth turret had them removed in 1940. So with that in mind, I think i am not totally unjustified in feeling more than a little pleased with my efforts so far..?

    Try doing it via the Sketchucation Plugin store tool. And make sure you've installed current versions of LibFredo and Curviloft, not the ones you installed in SU8.

    That's weird. I would go in an manually remove them from the Plugins folder and try installing them gain. It doesn't seem like it ought to change anything but I suggested that to a guy a couple of weeks ago and his load errors cleared up.

    @nickchun said: Did you actually unsoften the edges or just unhide them? I agree with nickchun, you should right click the edges and select entity Info to make sure they are not soften. Also, you may need to change all face to triangles depend on which format you want to export to.

    Slope down, for example for some area. So all the vertices could be on same level on that area.

    You see to want all integers so turning them from integers to strings and back again looks logical... Then you can use +1 to increment the integers... BUT if you wanted 'combined references' you can use say: data = "A01" Then later increment the string thus: data.next! which gives "A02" The Ruby method .next increments strings, so x="A"; x.next!; x; "B" etc... .next returns the string incremented but leaves the original reference unchanged, adding the ! as in .next! also increments the reference itself.

    Without any groups or components "named" that is impossible mission! here with your files you can't separate automaticaly anything (except by individual face) easily except by hand for make separated volumes! So not very handy! Transform each face in component by Tig Select all faces and open the ruby Console put this text - Enter m=Sketchup.active_model;n=m.active_entities;m.selection.to_a.each{|e|(g=n.add_group(e);g.to_component.definition.name="Face#1")if e.class==Sketchup;;Face}

    Oh I see. OP types the height AFTER choosing the plane. Instead If one chooses "position camera", then type height of person's eyes above the surface, THEN click surface you don't need to add in the height above ground plane. That's how I do it.

    I've also struggled with this in the past but as Dave says using layers is a major help. I design kitchens so the wall are always 'in the way' but you need them for reference. I now set up scenes with different layers turned off for placing mouldings etc. such as a birds eye view with the ceiling layer turned off. I also use Profile Builder(Pro version) a lot as you can lock the the axes/direction as you place runs of moulding- easier than drawing lines and using follow me tool

    @3dgraffiti said: Stats: edges 4630869 faces 2048718 component instances 121074 groups 58621 component definitions 150 I think there is your problem: the outliner has to sort through 121.074 components + 58.621 groups. I can't imagine it has been build /optimized for those high numbers. No idea what to limit is though...

    There is TIG's 2D tools suite, one of which is Fillet. You can also set it to do a chamfer, I believe.
