It sounds to me as if you are opening the group's wrapper and copying the geometry inside. Then you are pasting it while the group is still open for editing leaving that geometry inside the same wrapper. Instead you should make sure the group is closed. and copy it wrapper and all. When you select the group for copying it should have a blue box around it. That indicates you've got the whole group to copy. Next, instead of copying with Ctrl-C you should be using the Move tool to copy the group. Select the group, get the Move tool and hit Ctrl to toggle on the copy function. Then click on the the group and move the copy in the desired direction. You can specify the distance by letting go of the mouse and typing the desired distance. You should check out the online help files (use the Help menu) on the Move tool. If you are creating a stud wall, you can do something such as copy the first stud and type 16, hit Enter. Then immediately type *n or Xn where n is the number of copies you want in addition to the original. Each copy will be 16 in. from the previous one. It's dead simple to create a stud wall that way. As in real construction, it is likely the last one will need to be moved in a little bit but you can do that easily enough when you get tot hat point. Also, instead of making the stud a group, make it a component. You can save it for later use and leverage a number of strengths components have over groups.

Tried to use a backer on the png and it didn't work. Exported it to a jpeg and now it is working. It must be that pngs don't block out sketchy lines..

I have a related copyright issue, if someone can comment on it. Namely, what if: I download a model from SU's 3d warehouse I curate it, I verify for errors, I verify/put materials I prepare materials for a render process Now, which one of the following scenarios would be safe, in your opinion: (a) I reupload to my own models portal, no fees whatsoever (b) I reupload to a separate collection on 3Dwarehouse (c) I create a SU plugin for accessing from my own server (no from 3d warehouse), no fees whatsoever Reading the TOS of 3d warehouse, tallbridgeguy's works are clearly legally covered by the derivative work clause.

Opened it up in GIMP and the tree seemed to be cut out decently well. There were definitely some places that needed trimmed/erased so that is probably why it looked like it did. I started to trim it but it was taking forever so I put the transparency on 'nicer' and it displayed without the outline. Thanks

Draw a floor surface for your model to sit on, apply a material you can edit in KT to be reflective. There are plenty of tutorials on the Kerkythea website. Start there.

I recommend the STL Extension by SketchUp, which appears in the File menu: File > Export STL. If you do not have this menu item, then install the SketchUp STL extension from the Extensions Warehouse, and try again.

jerry, if you do a lot of wood textures on curved surfaces you might want to download the Fredo Tools plugin. in the package is ThruPaint it makes orienting wood grain on curves a lot easier than with the native tool. chuck.

Hello Pilou, Thank you very much for your reply. The videos gave me some good tips, but did not really include what I was looking for. For instance, I see that they make the golf hole, and in the end I thought they were going to glue the hole to the google earth surface so that it would stick to it and follow the contours while still keeping its face (and not becoming a non-planar surface). Is there anyway to do this? However, in the meantime, I managed to find a way to solve my problem, at least 70%. It is not the perfect solution, but it is good enough. Nevertheless, I thank you very much for your reply, I learned some new, good stuff.

Set up the view with the camera set to Parallel Projection. Export as a 3D CAD file instead of 2D.

@solo said: Very hard to say what is going wrong, will need more info, maybe images will help Thanks Solo, i will try to explain... the sketchup model has a lot of textures files, I export to obj but is something wrong with the way I export obj, probably i will have to optimize the textures. The obj files which work with my software have only one or a few texture file. The problem could be the way I edit the modell before export it. My machine only accept .dxf and I don't know how to convert with textures definition. only the block is converted.

Add a sheet material word to the component definition name. i.e. MDF, sheet, plywood, etc. Or add a new sheet material word that your components already use such as 'panel' in the first page of the CutList UI. Remember to save the settings. Or you can add a material to the components which has a sheet material word in its name. You can modify a simple color's name if you don't want to have actual materials applied. Any of those options will get the parts to show up in the Sheet Materials section instead of the solid wood components section.
