Hi folks. I just checked after drawing a component and rotating it at 45° from the red and green axes and if I flip this component along the component's red or green axis, I get the correct result. Of course the component's axis must be oriented correctly to start with. Normally, for a bathtub, the red and green shall be lying on the ground and the blue shall be pointing up. Just ideas.

@readingkt6 said: Where is the 3D warehouse? That would be awesome. Also on the File menu. Are you sure a toilet is worth all those bytes? When it comes time to build, you get catalogs and pick what you want. For the model of the house you might want to go with something that looks like a toilet but is low-poly (small cost in edges and faces).

I don't believe that the problem lies with the recording of the screen shot. The video transitions are already choppy when played right from Sketchup or thru the Smooth Animation video. My problem lies somewhere in the basics of the animation programs I am using. I think it is partially that I am trying to use sketchup as an animation tool when there are probably better tools out there for this purpose. I just don't have the skills to use the more advanced animators at this time. But thanks for the heads up on FRAPS, I did check it out and it may come in handy at some point

Hi Greg, Note that if you want a realistic arch, you will need to also texture the vertical faces around the opening with the material somewhat radially positioned. Have a look at this tutorial that shows similar results (with bricks but eventually it's all the same): http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21847

The 2D Tools plug-in sounds really interesting- I'm not that well-versed in how to find things. TIG, could you please tell me where to find HTM (guide?) I looked in the Extenstions index in SketchUcaction, SMustard, and the Library Depot. Did I miss something? Thanks so much. Too new for these locations - look in the Ruby Forum here. A simple search for '2D Tools' finds it... plugins are using found on the first page of the topic http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=185760#p185760 There are lots of exciting new Rubies arriving every day !!! browse the forum...

I already tried the following: Welding the outline Check the length of the outline Used 'Convert to > Polyline Divider' and divided it (length of outline / no. of segments (i.e. 20) = segment length) Problem is that after I did all those steps, a) the shape is distorted, and b) I end up with a gap that is smaller than a segment What exactly am I doing wrong here? If necessary I will attach a drawing with an example. MATSUO Did same approach and did not have the same problem. I found length. inside, is 10652.680 used 101 segs for a tread width of 105.47208mm. The first time checking the segs I found a short one also so, increased the accuracy of the model units to the max. and did not find same problem. Don't know why that should effect the results Maybe I did something else wrong). Before copy/ rotation of treads suggest you check each seg length via entity info. The attached file is what I have done to date. That's more like it I will try your approach (increasing the accuracy) and post my results! Thanks edit: Well..I tried your approach, without any success I keep ending up with one piece that's too small! I even tried the offset on surface tool, but that didn't help either Any other suggestions? When I call up the polyline divider on my SU7 version it asks for a interval input and not num of segments. I am guessing if you input a interval such that the tread length/tread width is not an integer it just may truncate the one segment. I accurately measured the tread length then used a width close to the hidden widths( at the max curve point) shown in your model then adjusted that until I obtained an integer number. thus the 101 segs. Hope this helps Additional info. Checked the ruby library and found bz_sgementor.rb giving you the capability of dividing polyline by segs vs dimension. Download and install. http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/BZ__Segmentor.rb. This should solve the problem. Quick check with my 101 segs indicates it provides the same solution without length truncation at least for this case. I will look into it! My apologies for the late reaction

it will certainly run on this machine. it runs on much weaker ones too. however, it always advisable to get more RAM and a more potent graphics card. it seems that the 9400 card shares memory with the system and this is not the best for rendering.

Hi Shokan, Have a look at this tutorial I also made for texturing arches: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=21847 Here is an image I made with this technique (the texture has been improved ever since and of courase, this is not Victorian but Ancient Roman but the idea is the same): [image: file.php?id=36098&mode=view]

As long as it is a backup copy, and if all you want is a look, explode the groups, and components, then stretch.

@gaieus said: Hi Gregory, There are some steps involved in this. Unlock the Google Earth snapshot (right click > Unlock). Now enter its group by double clicking on it when you are already at the flat face, right click > Texture and select projected. Now exit the group, select the Paint bucket tool and hold the Alt key (it will turn into a simple sampler or eyedropper) sample the image from the snapshot and releasing the Alt key, apply it onto the roof. You can get better results if prior to this, you export the colour imagery from GE and reload the b&w one with this but in order to do this, you need to save the colour image while you are in the exact same view in GE as when taking the snapshot for SU. @Remus - the projection is needed prior to this as otherwise he will never be able to position the roof texture exactly to where it is. Awesome! That worked perfectly! Thanks a ton. I'll be spending some time mastering that skill, I'll be sure to post some screenshots once I get this first project done!
