Bummer!
As I suspected; the hidden-file not loading trick only 'works' on a PC; whereas the renaming the file suffix with a terminal '!' route works for both PC & MAC...
I think OP is looking at the Ruby Library Depot download page. It says "How to install: Special, see documentation."
Don't confuse "download" with " Install". First download all the files recommended on that page. You should find the documentation you need to install the plugins. But...
The page TIG referenced explains: you just need to install other file(s)as well, to make the ruby work.
Thank you for the quick answer...don't understand why Google couldn't find those, but whatever...trying with the Sandbox, looks like it works best when selecting small entities ,one at a time, instead of applying it to the whole object. It means it takes some time to get the whole thing finished, i think, but it's a start, really. Thanks Paul.
Cracked it.
The objects which were behaving in the oposite way had been mirrored using scale -1. For some reason this makes the section planes act in reverse.
Thanks Wo3Dan for your assistance.
Cheers,
Steve.
Yes I see now. It should be instance.material=[r,g,b] not instance.material.color=[r,g,b] which I thought is what TIG meant in his original suggestions.
After making that change everything seems to be working. I have attached a copy if anyone else is interested in trying it out.
Exports/Imports component color info to/from .csv file
that would be good. i may need to improve my english also.
as you can see, i am not a native english speaker either.
fortunately, english is a common foreign language here.
u can also use the "drape" tool for that, it comes with the sandbox tools (only SU pro i think) or this plugin.

Good question CG.
I think the better renderings make your services look better.
But it would be good to hear thoughts from professionals who use rendering.
Where your cursor is placed when you start orbiting is the center of orbit. If you keep the cursor on some geometry while orbiting, it won't disappear.
No problem abilio. It's nice to be able to share some experiences and learn some things in the process. I've never used andybot's tip about the polyline divider before either but that sounds like it could pretty helpful in a number of situations. I hope I can remember that one for next time.

Thank you for yur helpful tips! It's a pity that this relatively simple action is not done correctly with the native tool, because it will often confuse beginners...
Hi,
Why Sketchup. Because SketchUp is very easy to learn. If one has understood the use of standard tools there are very quick steps to the first success. I had found six years ago a video tutorial which consisted of twelve lessons. In these lessons, the use of standard tools were shown. I tried all the techniques shown in parallel with "Sketchup". Within four weeks I was able to take the first small projects undertaken. Of course, I've made many mistakes. Then I Found the SketchUcation forum, and learned much among others the various plugins to know. The rest was practice and practice again and again.
And that's what makes Sketchup. You can learn the use of the standard tools very quickly and you can have great success with. The whole construction techniques are easier to accomplish in Sketchup, as this is the case in many other programs.
Other 3D programs also have their place, because Sketchup is not the "non plus ultra" in the 3D programs. Sketchup has its limitations e.g. in the design of organic shapes. Before a decision is always the question, for what purpose I want to use a special 3D program.

Hello Anssi,
That is of great help thank you very much. I tried the settings as you advised and it works.
Beatifull to get advise from all over the world.
Warm greetings Pieter.
Hi Maury,
Not sure why you're getting that output. An arc will normally produce smooth corners not facetted ones (except for where it joins onto the straight edges) You'll normally only get all the vertical edges showing if you have exploded the curve before extruding the face.
Anyhow, to solve the problem, just paint over all the vertical lines with Eraser whilst holding Ctrl down. Done!
